Free agent center Melvin Ely signing with the Charlotte Bobcats, agent Byron Irvin tells Y! Sports.

- Marc Spears

Depending on how the Diaw experiment at C goes, Ely could get a lot of burn there.

Rip has cleared waivers. Sounds like he'll be at #Bulls practice on Thursday after 2/$10M deal is finalized.

D Rose still being on his rookie contract is the main reason.  I still think they'd have to do some sort of trickery to get that deal, though, because I'm pretty sure they're already over the cap.

Chicago is quietly shaping up to be very dangerous this year.  I think we're heading for another Miami-Chicago ECF, a much more competitive one this time.

Two sources confirm @ESPNSteinline report that Dallas has agreed to send Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer to Denver for future 2nd rounder.

- Sam Amick
If that's all it cost for those 2, how could Danny have missed out on them?   2 wings, 1 a shooter off the bench and 1 a defender.  both can play uptempo.  I'm sure something could have been worked out

I've been thinking about this all day, especially when  Daniels
(because of health)and Pavlovic aren't as good as Fernandez and Brewer. Not only that, they could have been a few more young trade chips to try and land a big name in Boston....

If we are going to build around Rondo we need all the shooting we can get and I think Fernandez would be deadly shooter with Rondo's passing ability.
IMO Fernandez and Brewer are better than Daniels and Sasha.  Daniels has some nice versatility as a player but he has major health issues.  I think Fernandez and Brewer are both better than Sasha.

We didn't have the cap space to absorb them.  Dallas just wanted a salary dump.
that would be the only reason I could think of but I'd hope Danny could have figured something out.  he was trying to work magic to get CP3 or West.  this should have been a walk in the park for him.
The only option if the team didn't want to take back salary is a trade exemption. Perhaps a 3 team trade, but teams are not charities set up to help us make deals. It is also much easier to make 2 team trades and with such a short training camp, it is good to get this stuff done quick.

i dont believe in chicago they still have to prove because that miami series wasnt even close. they beat up on the magic and hawks. they had a good regular season because they are young and healthy also their great coach

Not a signing, but a negotation:

That's too much money. I don't think Stuckey is worth it.

8-9 mil for Stuckey?

I don't blame him though...not after the kind of contracts Dumars handed out to Gordon and Charlie V.

Yeah, Joe Dumars is the new king of terrible mid-range contracts.  Gordon, Charlie V., Hamilton, Prince, probably Jonas Jerebko, etc.  Why not Stuckey?

Does Stuckey really think he is on the same par as Rondo as a PG? He should be happy with Mike Conley money. That's what a PG of that caliber is getting nowadays.

It doesn't matter what he thinks...he has seen Dumars hand out terrible contracts...I can't blame him for trying to get one for himself.

Stuckey's representatives, seeking an even bigger deal, have been contacting other teams the past few days, looking to broker a sign-and-trade deal. However, the Pistons are telling teams they won't agree to one, sources said.

I'd call that bluff. S&T him, take back a vet PG (Kirk Hinrich?) to mentor Knight, and don't look back.

In the new scenario, Gasol would go to New Orleans — after which, according to the source, he would almost certainly be re-routed elsewhere for other assets, most notably more Draft picks for the Hornets. (One place that would not be is Boston; New Orleans does not have interest in a potential Celtics package involving guard Rajon Rondo, according to the source, who also dismissed reports on Tuesday that the Hornets would be interested in taking guard Mo Williams from the Clippers in exchange for forward Trevor Ariza.)

Fair to say that we value Rondo a lot more then anyone else. We talk about a bargain contract but he might be a little overpaid. I wonder what he could command on the open market...

I wouldn't trade Rondo for Pau Gasol.

Value-wise I absolutely would, but I wouldn't right now, because it wouldn't make sense for the future of the team.

Of course if the C's could find another way to get Gasol, I would be all over it.
