Figured we could use a catchall thread for the many moves that will be made that aren't worth their own thread(s).

Recently:

Kings sign Marcus Thornton for 5 years, $40 million (according to Broussard).  Who were they bidding against?  This is a heck of a way to get to the salary floor.  Kings continue to look hopeless.

Grant Hill resigns with Suns for 1 year, $6.5 million.  Suns are still stuck in the lower middle but he seems to be happy there.

I was just about to post this, what a horrible deal for the Kings. Davis gets 4 years/26 million and then this one. It's a good thing the owners cut into the players share cause one thing is clear so far:

The owners/GMs are still a bunch of idiots that make poor decisions.

Wow, way overpaid. Worst contract of free agency so far.

I can't wait to see how Sacramento plans to use Tyreke Evans next season. They brought in a PG with their lottery pick (J.Fredette) and now give $40 million to a two guard. Are they planning on Tyreke spending a fair bit of time at the three? Looks that way.

Alex Kennedy says Jermaine Taylor is returning to the Rockets, terms undisclosed.  I have no idea who Jermaine Taylor is.  I am familiar with the Rockets, though.

All these terrible signings and superstars trying to force trades just days after becoming possible is really making me angry about this whole lockout.  Nothing was accomplished.

I really feel like a financially responsible team is going to be in position to really take advantage of all these horrible signings in 3 years or so.  Either by way of acquiring quality players via trade that are somewhat overpaid or by way of being the only team able to sign free agents.  Hopefully it's the celtics.

I seem to recall Indiana and Milwaukee as teams linked to Thornton.

Oh, nice under the radar signing. J.Taylor was a secon round pick of the Rockets a few years ago. Always surprised he didn't latch with another team after leaving Houston. Showed nice promise during his rookie year with the Rockets in limited court time.

Well built two guard. Physical, tough, competes hard. Slasher, plays defense and rebounds.

Received plaudits for his physical play against Kobe Bryant. Taylor was very physical with him. Defended him well. Looked like Houston had something with Taylor ... he just got caught in the numbers game. They had a lot of wings at the time.

J.Taylor should have a future in this league.

Well, the owners walked away with $3 billion, which was all they cared about anyway. The rest was rhetoric.

Certainly seems like Ainge is working towards that. Bass instead of Davis is another part of that. But we'll see.

It's a pre-emptive bid for a restricted free agent.  It's not wildly out of line with what he is worth.  Sac'to fans seemed to think 5yrs/$35m was fair.  He's likely to be a 20+ppg volume scorer.  The Kings get to point and laugh at Rudy Gay's contract.

I think he's happiest with that payday.

Here's Thornton's numbers in SAC last year: 21.3 pts, 3.4 assts, 4.7 rebs, 54.7 TS%, 18.3 PER. That's pretty good production for $8m a year.

That's what's weird about the signing. Are they looking to trade someone?

No kidding.  Just further proof that franchises with poor management will continue to struggle, no matter what the cap rules.
