Someone can correct me if I am wrong but the lawyers for the players said they are asking for an injunction and I don't believe the court will issue one without it being requested.

I actually heard that they specifically are not asking for an injunction (for some legal reason that I didn't understand).
Probably because the NFL asked for an injunction and lost, thus they don't think highly of their chances.

Yep.  And the chances of the court granting SJ here are exactly 0%, I'd say.  Since the owners know this, too, there's exactly 0% chance of the players' motion gaining any leverage, as well.

just wasting a lot of time and giving the owners a reason / excuse to stop negotiations for a month or two.

Both. But mostly, I just want David Stern gone.

Me too.

There is a constant battle within each side.

Within the players' side, the mid-class want to earn their pay checks while the superstars want to dictate where they can play.

Owners side have to deal with small markets crying to large markets. Small markets want to handcuff large markets so the small markets can "compete".

Small markets are most likely going to get more of the profits from the large markets through revenue sharing, but they also want to hold the power to keep their players on a leash.

So if it were not for greed, when a small market team wins a title in the future, they won it because of a handicap.
