the main thing that the games and the negotiations have in common is that Stern influences the outcome of both of them
Touche.

Well at the very least that means we'll have some more basketball soon :p

yes, I think we will, and many players will get screwed in the process: business as usual

I think getting "screwed" is a tough way to put it.  Even players making the league rookie minimum are in the "top 1%" that we hear so much about.

That's true, although their careers generally last 8-10 years or so, but you are still right, if you want to compare their income to the general public they have nothing to complain about. Now if your talking about how they get screwed from officiating during games, that's a whole other story  ;D

all along, my stance has been that this would play out like a court case.  Meaning that both sides would posture the entire time, then when the deadline approaches, they settle so they don't have to go to court.  Don't know if that's what is going to happen or not, but I haven't gotten terrible upset or uptight over the situation.  far too many politics in the way, leading to the deadline.  if the season ends up losing games or is canceled, then i will get upset with both sides.  in the end, the fans suffer if that happens.

well, there you go, Stern says the first 2 weeks of the season are cancelled, the two sides remain very far apart

from Woj's Twitter:

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Stern: "We tried very hard. We made concession after concession...I'm proud of my owners...demonstrated that they really tried."

Really Stern? Proud of the owners? What a jerk!

as a C's fan, I'm happy that the games were cancelled. Postponed games would mean that the games in the first two weeks would be made up, meaning more back-to-backs and a tighter schedule.

as a basketball fan this sucks. point #1 ^ might be irrelevant since there might not even be a season. owners, Stern, you suck you greedy Edited for profanity.  Please do not do it again.s

I'm really down at the heels. And disappointed in both sides.

Specifically, cancellations includes all games through November 14th. Celtics website is already updated. First game of the season now stands as the 16th in Miami.

Blake Griffin won't be coming to Boston, nor will Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry.

I dunno. the fact that the talks were lasting so long today and the news that they agreed on a mid-level made me a little optimistic. this blows
