Trade
Indiana Trades: Ron Artest
OKC Trades: Trevor Ariza
Very bad trade for OKC. Very good trade for Indy.
Ron Artest's decline over the past two seasons makes Ariza the superior talent. Especially for a team that intends to run the Triangle and know how much Artest has struggled within that offense for the past two years. In contrast to Ariza, who blossomed in it.
I don't necessarily disagree what you said about Artest in the triangle offense, but on a much simpler level, I think that the role reversal each player will have on their new teams suit each player well.
Artest wouldn't be happy coming off the bench backing up Rudy Gay for 15 min or so per night. He wants to play and he is capable of being a starting SF and still locking down SFs in the NBA. There are many statistics that show this which I'll hold back from and allow celticpride to bust out when the time is right.
Ariza, in my opinion, was an absolute stud coming off the bench for LAL. Then he regressed when he became a starter in Houston and NOH. I think he is best suited to play 20 min per game off the bench. He defends very well, forces turnovers, is a streaky shooter, and has athleticism that teams look for as a "spark off the bench".
I think both players will be more valuable in their new roles.
