And Like Roy loves every player on Edgar's teams.   ;)

Haha.  Not this year.  I've never been much of a Monta Ellis fan, nor do I like Jamison at this stage of his career (especially next to Brand).  Plus, you may have noticed Edgar added AK47, who I've never been accused of being overly kind to.

I think Edgar's trade brought greater balance to his team, but I don't like his squad as much as I have in year's past.
I don't like Edgar's team at all, personally.

This weekend I'll try and do a blurb on every team and the divisions

So I'm doing my annual "projections" spreadsheet (where I figure out a depth chart w/minutes, then see what players would produce with a different # mins played.

So I'm wondering...how do I treat Derrick Williams?

I already took his college production and lopped off 10% immediately from everything including FG%.

But the guy shot 59% in college! Is 53% low enough?

I want to say no, but look at the facts...the guy was the most efficient jumpshooter, one of the best at scoring inside, and shot 50%+ from behind the 3pt line on 2 attempts a game!

So, my original thought was to compare his drops to those of similar players.  Find the average in the change of numbers of Beasley, Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Brandon Wright, and Rudy Gay.  All recently drafted players with relatively similar games in college to Derrick Williams.

Then I thought maybe those projected stats that somebody else posted would seem reasonable.  I think just taking off 10% would be way too little.

Regarding the 3pt%, another poster pointed out that will come WAY down.  Aside from the way tougher competition (especially, more athletics SF/PFs than he's used to NCAA PFs) you have to account for the further distance as well.  JJ Redick went from shooting 42.1% 3's while being absolutely molested on defense up to 30 feet beyond the arc to 38.8% on, what it appeared to me, were more open 3's somehow.  I think Williams' drop is going to be precipitous.

But back to the subject, I think those projections somebody else posted earlier were fair.

So you didn't mean this?

Quote
This is the one downside/blindspot of the CB Draft IMO.... unchanging views of players with bad habits. Once people don't like a player he's tainted forever. Glad Red didn't think that way about guys like DJ or Parrish (and no i'm not comparing Nick Young to either HOF'er, calm down.... )

Yes I meant that.

I meant that generally speaking in the CB Draft discussions, people's views (my own included) on players -- especially those with habits deemed "bad" -- seem to be slow to change... if at all.

(I think back to my friend Rob's zine My Views Change Over Time... simple but powerful b/c we all don't acknowledge that enough.)

I also said/implied later that specifically with Nick Young I thought that's what was happening. This also by definition means that we disagree to some degree on the evaluation of Young.

What i didn't say was that if we disagree it's always because the person i'm disagreeing with can't see the subtle changes in a players game....

Reasonable people can reasonably disagree about the pluses and minuses in a player's game. I hope it was not taken that I was trying to argue both sides of the coin and that this makes my thoughts a bit clearer.

TPs all around... Ubuntu.

PS. If other teams are doing scientific-projections factoring in pace (math that I probably can't even figure out any more  ;D) the whole thing is moot... cuz our boat will be sunk!  ;D 8)

GC, listen here, are you trying to tell me......

 :)

TP for the troubles you about to face trying to defend Nick Young!!  Haha, he was a very good value for two 12th rounders.

Don't forget about Orlando  ;D

TP's and a review on your team (if I haven't done so already) if you leave some feedback
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I am really surprised at the lack of activity on the FA thread. Shocked, really.

I think there are only two teams left with open roster spots.

I will say this: Next year I'm gonna make sure I only have 11 guys walking into the FA period, and make a few 2:1 trades to move up into better rounds. The 9th round, the 5th to 6th, and the 3rd round seem like great places to target...and there are plenty of NBA caliber 10th and 11th men left. Heck, since 4PM yesterday I've acquired Jonas Jerebko, Patty Mills, and Josh Childress. Love it.

One idea would be to have 15 man rosters, but only 13 rounds of drafting.  With a contracted league, there's depth to add FAs.

Pandas and Dragons arent friends anymore.

And yes my team is ULTRA balanced

My bench is better than most here no doubt

Barea, TMac, Salmons, Jamison and Kwame could start in some teams here, Collison and Gomes too

So I am not worried about criticism and even more i dont have a worry About being on the playofffs or not
I think the team will be a very difficult to beat and all guys will have a lot of fun playing with talented people.

:D

Saludos and Peace

Yeah, I'd love to have a 15 man roster.
