Are you guys suggesting that what these representatives and media members are seeing is a state of the art hologram machine?

No, just that your argumentation isn´t waterproof. Siegfried and Roy aren´t really magicians and can "teleport" white tigers, too.

And the NBA, a billion dollar business, is willing to risk pretty much everything on an elaborate magic show?

"Sit in this pod, fools!" - David Stern

Or perhaps the representatives and media members are the holograms?

Nope.  Mostly, just amused.

I don't know, Stern is just the type of guy to decieve the people who employ him.  The owners could very well be in the dark about the whole thing.

EDIT:  I'm going to give up the goose now.  Mostly I'm just throwing out crazy remote possibilities for my own amusement.  Besides, it's somewhat off topic.

Think of it this way: Did Mo Williams help the Clippers gain or lose a place in the rankings?  If so, they wouldn't have ended up with the #1 pick even if they hadn't made the trade.

See?  All better, Clippers fans.

Good point.   They finished 2 games ahead of Detroit ... I suppose Clips fans can hang their hat on that.  Funny, I live in LA and sort of pull for the Clips ... but not really, and I LOST SLEEP thinking about the stupid move.  LOL!

For the benefit of putting Irving in Cleveland?

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree, because I think outside of the death of David Stern there's literally nothing that the NBA could do to dissuade you from your opinion.

I´m playing devil´s advocate here, but what exactly do they risk? That the balls don´t fall the way they should? Even if something goes wrong during the process, it wouldn´t necessarily mean that the lottery is rigged.

On the other hand, the NBA is competing with several leagues (NFL, MLB, NHL) for viewership. Having hometown heroes on certain teams could ensure to keep interest in these franchises high.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Not to play mod, but the discussion is off topic somewhat.

I'd rather discuss how stupid the Clippers are anyway.  Sterling gets everything bad he deserves.

Cavs were going to get 1st pick no matter what. David Stern throwing Cavs a bone post-lebron rebuild. The lottery is done behind closed door for a reason

I never noticed this before; but when Stern picks the first envelope he looks directly into the drum for the one he wants (the bent corner).  For all other picks he is facing another direction for a random pick.  He also takes a deep breath as if he's a little nervous before the first pick.

If the Clippers are such imbeciles why don't they trade us Mo Williams and Blake Griffen for Rondo and Glen Davis?

You right, they are very dumb.

That's really funny. First, the camera wasn't showing his face when he was taking the envelope out. Second, he obviously had to open the sphere before making the first pick. Third, the envelopes were spinning in the sphere for good several rotation (which is when the bent corner occurred).

This whole "the lottery is fixed" argument is funny on a whole different level -- what happens when the marked envelope is on the rock bottom and you can't see it (or, indeed, dig it out).

Yeah, unfortunate move by the Clippers. However, the draft really isnt strong this year so even though Mo Williams is nowhere near the value a number 1 pick has, it really wont be too too bad.

I am sure Griffin will veto a deal to a town where fans can't spell his name right.

The Celtics pick from the Clippers (via OKC) is unprotected in 2016, I believe. Correct?

Yes.  It's protected until then, but we will absolutely get their pick in 2016 at the latest (unlike those three second-rounders that Sacramento "owes" us, which literally we will never get unless they suddenly become a title contender).

It's protected top 10 until 2016.  If the Clippers fall out of the top 10 before 2016, the Celtics have the rights to it.

Those 3 2nd rounders were worthless anyway.  We gave up O'bryant, Cassell, and an injured M. Daniels.  Just trying to open up roster spots really.
