First off, wow, those were some pretty crazy odds (2.4%) that the Clippers number would get drawn. Its does seem to happen a little too often though, especially for that low of odds. It does make you wonder.
What I really don't understand is how the Clippers were even allowed to trade the pick. As far as I am aware, you are not allowed to trade consecutive future 1st round picks. The Clippers already potentially owe us their 2012 1st. The only way I could even see it being allowed is because the pick they owe us is conditional.
Also, I wonder if due to the fact the pick they owe us is conditional, due to league rules, they were only allowed to trade the pick if it was unconditional? If they had traded the pick conditionally, how would that have affected the conditional pick they owe us next year had Cleveland not received the pick this year?
Regardless, it does really show how incompetant the Clippers ownership/management is. Pathetic!
