  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Since it is nearing 4 and the round is almost over I'm going to pick my coach.

And perhaps the biggest no-brainer selection of any that will be made (until the next pick).

The Memphis Grizzlies select as their coach

Arnold Auerbach

I doubt you're going to get much resistance there.

There really are only two possible choices as first coach and since this is celticsblog, only one is acceptable among the two.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Well it all depends. Have you even had a microwave that loved going out til 3 in the morning, carried around with an obnoxiously large entourage, refused to play a secondary role, and had a grossly distorted view of his own abilities and status within the league?

My microwave generally awaits for my return at 3am. At which point hot pockets are enjoyed

PICKS FOR
ROUND 5   Friday May, 27, 2011

How good are you?
Is your pick good or bad????

1. Philadelphia 76ers - Bob Cousy

For me a No Brainer, some poeple think it might be a little early, but I dont see that many superlegends left  and for me hes one of them

7.5/10

2. Portland Trail Blazers - Sam Jones

I am not thrilled, even when having someone who excells at crunch is nice, I think is a little early to look for one quality only.

6.0/10

3. Memphis - Chris Paul

I see this coming, is not a bad match for the team, for me Steve and him are almost the same of a good pick.

6.5/10

4. Indiana Pacers - Steve Nash

see CP

6.5/10

5. Atlanta Hawks - Dikembe Mutumbo

Talking about being unidimentional, applies only when your name is not Dikembe or Rodman and your abilities are easy to replicate, thats not the case with Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo
He can help a LOT in this enviroment IMHO
* See KC I appreciatte defense

7.0/10

6. Miami Heat - Bob Lanier

Not exited at all
too easy to replicate on the format
a little early for him

5.0/10

7. Seattle SuperSonics -  Reggie Miller

Why not
Hes clutch, he scores, he almost became a celtic ;)
I like Reggie

6.5

8. Chicago Bulls -  Dennis Rodman

See Dikembe

7.0

9. Los Angeles Lakers - Ben Wallace

Not a fan at all

5.0/10

10. Denver Nuggets -  Robert Parish

Best pick in this round

8.5/10

11. Boston Celtics - Allen Iverson

AS most of us I have mixed feelings, but I DO appreciatte what iverson does. or did when in his prime, he was a joy to watch. I do agree his game is easlily replicable, but his cojones are not.

6.5/10

12. Memphis Grizzlies  - Traded to Dallas

If you see low grades is because basically your letting a jewel pass by And I just cant see that.

Sad

This is why Sam Jones is the most underrated Celtic of all time.

He was the best offensive player -- and the most clutch player -- on teams that won ten championships.   He was an excellent rebounder, a good passer, a good defender, and one of the best shooters in the NBA (as a guard).

Sam Jones is one of the very best shooting guards in NBA history.  He was only a half-step below Jerry West in his era, which is a pretty big compliment.

Admit it, Edgar:  you pick names out of a hat. ;)  You hate the Lanier pick, but love Dikembe and Parish.  What's that based on?

See, all you gotta do is post a picture of a cartoon and Edgar calls your pick the best one of the round.  Easy as that.   8)

David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels

Yeah, I think he lead the team in scoring every championship year if I'm not mistaken.  I've been loving Redz' picks.  Not every day you get a guy with 10 rings in the 5th round.

Although there's one other guy that is often called the 3rd best guard of the 60s behind Oscar and West.

Question, if we draft a coach who used to be a player, does that mean that person can't be drafted?
