Was wondering where the Answer would go on my trip to Dunkin Donuts. I don't think he gets his due.

Oh I think we're about to see a little bit of a firestorm of opinions regarding Iverson.

Pros: He could find a way to score on anyone, and was never scared of taking a shot, no matter the stage. One of the best scoring 2 guards in the history of the NBA, no matter what the FG% numbers are (and they're bad)

Cons: too small to guard 2's, not really a good point guard, never came off the bench, and refused to even when his star was dwindling, low efficiency.

I go back and forth with Iverson.

A lot of it comes down to the question I pose last night, of whether we consider these guys as transplanted into this new league via time machine, or whether they all grew up in the same era and entered the league together.

If it's the former, I'm not such an Iverson fan.  He's undersized, inefficient, and was a coach-killer who wouldn't come off the bench.  If it's the latter, I can see a guy with a skill set like Iverson's being a very, very valuable bench player as a "microwave".
I would have taken him in the 7th round and made the Microwave type argument, but I think he is perhaps the worst HOF player for this type of team.  His game just doesn't fit well with other great players, but as the main scoring option on the second unit, I think he has some value.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

As a starting SG or even PG, no way Iverson matches up with any of the other guards in this league.  However I don't think they'll ever be a higher quality "microwave."
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Well it all depends. Have you even had a microwave that loved going out til 3 in the morning, carried around with an obnoxiously large entourage, refused to play a secondary role, and had a grossly distorted view of his own abilities and status within the league?

Cuz that sounds like a crappy microwave.

But, if none of that stuff matters and you could just bring him off the bench (ala the 'NBA 2k' argument), there isn't a better microwave.

Regarding Iverson, at the end of the day he took a team filled with terrible role players to the finals. The man can score, and he can create some havoc on defense.

Have you ever had a microwave that can cross you over to the point that both of your ankles are completely shattered?

And that's the point, because Allen Iverson did this:

If you're just getting the skills and the competitiveness without the bull-crap, Iverson is a great pick as 6th man. If you're getting the baggage, its too big a risk.

I really love the competitiveness and defense on this team. I think in a draft of all timers , I've put together the giant slayer.

I think my team filled with Hall of Famers would struggle to stay above .500

Since it is nearing 4 and the round is almost over I'm going to pick my coach.

And perhaps the biggest no-brainer selection of any that will be made (until the next pick).

The Memphis Grizzlies select as their coach

Arnold Auerbach
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
