My initial thoughts on Round 5.

What I liked:  Chris Paul & Robert Parish.  (I like the fits a lot.)

What I didn't like:  Reggie Miller, Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, and Allen Iverson.  (All too specialized to go this early)

What I'm still thinking over:  Bob Cousy (is he the right fit there?),  Steve Nash (see Bob Cousy), Sam Jones (toughest one to call, IMO.  Heckuva player but is he a starter in this thing?  I don't know),  Bob Lanier (warming up to the idea the more I think about it from a fit standpoint), Dikembe Mutombo (too one-dimensional?)
I'd be kicking myself if this trade actually happened, but I think Nash for Cousy is a no-brainer.  Better fits on both teams.

I disagree, I need Nash's shooting to help spread the court

Isiah would've been a great pick for you.

I don't like Isiah next to Wade.

Why not?

Not a lot of balance in the backcourt, two very similar players without consistent range-- which is a formula that worked in Miami this year but wouldn't in an all timer league because of the quality of teams-- whereas Nash brings considerable balnce to that backcourt. Also, Nash is more comfortable in the uptempo style Wade and Russell like to play in.

I was wondering when Moranis was going to use Pippen's comments to promote his player.

I mean come on.  One of the 50 greatest players in NBA history, who played with perhaps the best ever believes Lebron James is on that level.  Why wouldn't I mention it?  Perfect timing by Pippen if you ask me.

I don't blame you for using that to promote your player...I was just surprised it took you so long.

As for Pippen, well, that's what happens when you party with Kim Kardashian....you speak without thinking.

So are we gonna get an answer to KC's question or can I take Russell as my coach?

There's no rule against it that I can see.  That would make for some odd matchups when Denver plays Indiana, though.  Bill Russell the coach taking on Bill Russell the player?  My head just exploded.

The Seattle Supersonics do not endorse Scottie's comments about GOAT, however they do commend him on his photobombing skills.

Question: Can I have 2 Bill Russells? 22 rings between them!

A coach is a coach, a player a player. So you can use a person to coach who has already been drafted by another team as a player.

He'll be well-rehearsed in the opponent's entire defensive plan.  Just wait til I switch him to player-coach and throw him out there to neutralize himself.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

So we're all in agreement here, everyone just drafts other people's players as their coach just to mess w/ them, right?

I know I have heard some consern about my pick of Rodman, and yes he was a reach, but

- He's not a starter and I wanted a specialist on my bench that could rebound, play unbelievable defense and be versatile enough to guard multiple positions. Rodman might be the best player in NBA history to fill that role.

- I have the fifth pick on Tuesday in round 6 and there are 4-5 small forwards that will be perfect as my starter. I was confident looking at the teams picking between my picks that at least 2 of those guys would be available but figured once someone filled out their starters they may look upon Rodman as a perfect bench player so I chose him now and will wait on the SF.

- I wanted a defensive player to offset prime Lebron, prime Larry, prime Kobe, in late game situations and yet still be able to handle prime Malone, prime McHale and other PFs.

Hope that helps to explain my reach with Rodman.

Be careful who you pick.  I might start taking people's coaches as players too.
