nope.  I think the only no-brainer is Wilt.

I don't think Wilt's is a no-brainer by any means.

You may be right and it may depend a lot on the rest of the roster, but taken in a vaccum, his is about as close as you can come to a no-brainer (at least with respect to the all time greats).

Shaq's to me is probably the biggest no-brainer, right?

99-00: MVP, Finals MVP, and like 30 pts, 14 boards, 80 games, 3 blocks, 4 assists?

I'm paraphrasing, because I've looked at those stats so often. I don't know anyone who had a better season from the 5.

I think THIS guy could give Shaq a run for Stats from the 5 spot for a season:

Yeah, it is woo-hoo to me. I'll take this as a show of support. Congrats to Redz on the early lead.

My way of thinking was MJ was the first guy at that stage of my life who convinced me that Bird was not the greatest athlete in the history of the universe (and other universes too).

Larry was a god for me growing up.

Happy to have him playing for the franchise who he torched for his final great performance.

Larry is without question my favorite player of all-time, and nothing will ever change that, but as you say, MJ was the only guy to ever seriously challenge that concept for me, at least in terms of "best", (although as I've come to appreciate defense in my more recent years, Bill has gone from 3rd to sharing 1st with MJ).

Funny, when I was in college in Boston, I looked a lot like Larry, (when he had his moustache and longer hair), and I had some frightening experiences because of it, (I'll have to find a pic of me then and post). I'll have to share a couple of those stories some time ... like the time my brother and I were deluged with camp kids at a McDonald's drive-thru in Danvers ... it was frightening, cuz even though I was showing these kids my license, they would just not believe I wasn't him.

Yeah but 2000 Shaq would've eaten Lew Alcindor's lunch, although Kareem matches up well height-wise, Shaq's power is undeniable, coupled with as good or better athleticism.

Oh..can't argue with you AT ALL about Hakeem, lol...the guy was my FIRST pick in last year's draft. I went back and forth between he and Kareem or Magic for my first pick this year.

I think it will work out, though. I kinda wanted Kareem due to the sentimental value of having the Lakers, and reviewing footage on him he held his own against Hakeem and Wilt back in the day.

That is incredible, as I think about it. Kareem played against BOTH Wilt AND Hakeem.....

I couldn't stand the Lakers, especially in the 80's but Man! Showtime must've been the most potent offense I have EVER seen in my lifetime.

Magic was awesome. There will never be another like him...except for maybe Larry.
