OK, some guys who had a standing reach (which is more important than height) the same, or less than Faried, and who weighed about the same or less than him in the predraft process:

Tyrus Thomas, Hakim Warrick, Marvin Williams (3.5 pounds heavier), Ed Davis (2.5 pounds heavier), Chris Wilcox, Darell Arthur, Joahkim Noah, David Lee (5.5 pounds heavier), Josh Smith, Drew Gooden (2.5 pounds heavier), Thaddeus Young...

So, I am not really worried about his size.  Now, we can question whether he has enough skill to compete, but the size is more than adequate.
220 lbs are not really adequate for an NBA-caliber PF.

Yet all of those guys I listed weighed about that much, or less, and are NBA-caliber PFs.  And as Noah has shown, getting on an NBA training plan can really help to add some weight to a thin frame.
Williams, Warrick and Young are not PFs. Wilcox is a marginal NBA player, and Arthur is yet to prove he's something more than a marginal NBA player.

And the critical difference here is that when you're 6'6, your frame is smaller and so is your ability to gain weight.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

celtics need to grab faried

they need his motor and rebounding and athletism on the team

i would even trade up a few spots to grab him by traded a couple second round picks

Tyler Honeycutt.  BB at UCLA is a terrible coach, he holds his players back in order to run the most boring, ala 1990s Jon Stark's Knick offense.

Honeycutt would be an excellent sleeper pick.
He won't be available at 25 will he? I thought he was projected in the late teens.

Ive seen him listed around 25 on some boards.  To be honest I dont trust most of the draft boards, player evaluation is very personal to each team and guys fall all the time.   Add in the fact there is SO much deception, especially with the NFL and NBA drafts, I could see Honeycutt going around 15 or even 25.

I wouldn't mind Jon Leuer. He is around 7 feet has a 36' vertical leap and is pretty quick. Plus he came from a team that plays very good defense and put up good numbers in college.

DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon

I like Leuer a lot.  He's a lot more athletic than people give him credit for.  He's a good shooter, an okay rebounder, not great, but not bad either.  I think he could be pretty good in the NBA.

Leuer would be a solid pick in the 2nd round. I think there will be better options at 25 depending on how the rest of the preceding picks play out.
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

Right, I agree.  I'd have no issue buying a pick and taking him around 35-40.  He won't be around much later than that.

A small standing reach of 8-9 for a guy who is almost 7 feet and has a 7 foot wingspan.

His rebounding numbers are also poor. Bad sign.

Draftexpress also criticizes his defense. Says his too weak to defend the post and too slow (laterally) to check perimeter / quick big men.

It also sounds like a good chunk of his offensive game will struggle to translate to the NBA when matched up against NBA caliber athletes / defenders.

Long term, a jump shooting big who struggles defensively and on the backboards. Based on those reports, he does not sound interesting. A lot of red flags.

with the 25th pick, everybody has some red flags and yes Leuer has his BUT he has a high basketball IQ and a great work ethic, 2 things that many NBA players seem to lack. Also he started off as a point gaurd but had a growth spurt so he is big and can handle the ball fairly well. He may not be flashy and explosive but i believe with the right situation and people around him, he has the potential to become a great role player, and with the 25th pick in a weak draft thats what you get, and thats what the celtics need at this point

I think he could be a solid rotation player, like a 8-10th guy on a contender. I like him a lot but I think he's more of a second rounder than a first.

Getting a guy who can be an 8-10th guy on a contender at the back end of the first round isn't all that bad.  He doesn't actually struggle defensively, that's a major misconception of this kid.  He's a very smart defender and he gets to the right spot.  He's also more athletic then people give him credit for.  I know a lot of people were talking about Kanter and his endurance test, Leuer benched more than Kanter, tested better on the agility test and finished the 3/4 length spring only a .10 seconds behind kanter.

I just feel like if Marshon Brooks is there and we dont pick him it'd be a big mistake... the dude can score, period. Would be a great replacement for Ray Ray.
