Sleeper:Kawhi Leonard 6'7"swingman(Gerald Wallace-like),San Diego State...a few NBA experts says he might be the best "not talked about" prospect in this yrs. draft.

He's projected to go in the top 10 in a lot of mock drafts.  He'll be long gone by the time we pick.

I like Faried. There's always space in the NBA for someone who can rebound.

Ranked 4th to 8th by Chad Ford, according to the current Lottery Mock Draft thingy on ESPN.

Don't have a clue who he is or what position he plays, but i'd draft for the name in heartbeat.

I don't think Danny's ever made a pick in the draft that I've anticipated.

(Whereas I've anticipated many of Belichick's trading down moves.)

Speaking of Purdue, where is the love for E'Twaun Moore? I know he doesnt have the hype of Jujaun Johnson but he has an impressive offensive skillset, too.  I would love to see Danny grab him with the 55th pick.

I think that the quantity of high-caliber seniors will somewhat offset the lack of quality freshman/sophmores this year.  There are a lot of 2nd round steals to be had. McCamey, Smith, Singler, Isaiah Thomas, Mack, Leuer, just to name a few.

Late the 1st or early 2nd I'm usually interested in wings that can play immediately or big man projects. Looks like their isn't much for legit wings so... I'd take a flier on an upside big guy:

Willie Reed
Bismack Biyombo
Jordan Williams
Jajuan Johnson
Jeremy Tyler

I think Jeremy tyler is someone who Ainge has his eye on. Big kid with great potential and could come into an ideal situation and learn from the best. Plus everyone here knows how much Ainge loves great high school  players.

And if we go wing, than I like Marshon Brooks or Travis Leslie

I just hope that Tyler doesn't turn into an Eddy Curry type of player.

Hmm ... Robert Swift plays on the same Japanese basketball club that Jeremy Tyler plays for.

Swift is averaging 14 and 10 in 25 minutes while shooting 62% from the floor. He is also averaging 1.7 blocks. 0.6 steals plus an assist a night. There are also 2.4 fouls per game and 2.4 turnovers per game.

In comparison, Tyler is averaging 10 and 6.5 in only 15.4 minutes a night. Adding 0.7 blocks, 0.5 assists and 0.5 steals. There are 3.7 fouls in the 15 minutes plus 2.3 turnovers. So there looks to be a large number of mistakes. Shooting 52%, okay, but a fair bit down from Swift.

Robert Swift is 25 now. Career was derailed by injuries. Played just under a 100 games in four years. Hasn't been able to make it back since leaving the NBA two years ago.

Anyway, interesting to see the two on the same team. Get some type of gauge on the quality ... albeit a limited one.

25. Boston Celtics -- Reggie Jackson. The Celtics go with the local product. Jackson, a junior out of Boston College, is the type of shooter Boston could use to help ease the inevitable transition from the New Big Three era. Probably never going to be a starter in this league, but he's got offense to keep things seamless coming off the bench.

Wow, Robert Swift. There's a name from the past.

And Tyler's numbers per 36 mins don't appear to be much better than Swift's per 36.

Interesting site that has been following Jeremy Tyler's play since going to Japan

Watching the games, it is clear that Tyler thrived as Hill played him more at the 4 spot alongside Robert Swift at the 5. Tyler showed his versatility away from the basket, including a drastically improved outside shot. Tyler’s turnovers also dropped during this part of the season as he spent less time in the post getting double-teamed.

With some statistical analysis

Quote
While seeing those statistics should give one a better impression of Tyler’s season, the stats are still relatively useless as we have no context to place them in. Tyler’s performance is best analyzed when compared to similar players in the bj-league. I defined “similar player” as an import player taller than 6’7” who played primarily an inside game (players with less than 1/3 of their shots from behind the arc). I then removed any player who had not played in at least 20 games or 400 minutes during the season. In the end, 37 players matched these criteria.

Most of these men were at one point fringe NBA prospects, but have since made a living overseas. While only the most hardcore basketball fans will know players like Julius Ashby (Colorado ’06), George Leach (Indiana ’04), Jeff Newton (Indiana ’03), Gary Hamilton (Miami ’06), or Abdullahi Kuso (Gonzaga ’08), these are all experienced professional basketball players.

I chose to use Dave Berri’s Win Score per 40 minutes (WS40) as my metric of comparison as it is

.......

Tyler ended the season with a WS40 of 10.1. His Position-Adjusted WS40 (PAWS40), though, is a meager -1.56, meaning that Tyler’s performance was below average for import post players in the bj-league. Looking at only the last 12 games of the season though shows Tyler with a PAWS40 of 3.08. This figure would place him in the top 20% of import post players in the league.

They have a couple of short video clips of Tyler too. I haven't watched them yet.
