Jeff Green's defense is judged by what standards? At various points he guarded Carmelo, Lebron, Bosh and Stoudemire in the playoffs. He got bullied by some of these guys, some times and so did Paul Pierce and so would any other guy you put on them.
Tony Allen would've done a better job on Lebron and Carmelo, but would not give us the flexibility to go small. Jeff Green still has a more complete offensive game than Allen and Posey.
How good were Rondo, Perk, Tony Allen, Davis etc. when they first joined the Celtics? They all developed their talents well playing with the Big 3 under Doc. Why is it unreasonable to expect the same from 24 year old Green and 27 year old Kristic?
Jeff Green is a good player with a ton of potential. He did what was expected of him in the playoffs. He shot very well from the field. He did fumble passes, but that has more to do with Rondo's injury and lack of time to develop the right kind of chemistry. To this day Jeff Green has not had more than a handful of practices and we expect this 24 year old to win us a series against Miami?
It's tough to swallow the loss to Miami. There were several factors that hurt us this year. Injuries lead the list. The chemistry we lost because of the Trade maybe a small factor. The talent we lost is not one of them.
Rondo (elbow) and Delonte (wrist, ankle and shoulder) killed our offense. There is a lot of talk about where Rondo would be without the Big-3, but this series showed to some extent how the Big-3 will struggle without Rondo.
