Does anybody really care about who was right and who was wrong? I think that most of us would rather have a title than the knowledge that we were correct about stuff.
There are no gold stars for being the first one to predict the demise of the team, or for cheering for them the loudest.
If this is the case, and of course it is, then isn't it a lot more fun to cheer the team on and talk about how the Celtics can change things and win this series than it is to constantly browbeat the fact into the ground that the Celtics can't win it all, like even after they win two close games at home against New York and are leading the series 2-0.
It just seems that for some, it doesn't matter what the Celtics do, how well they play or what the results are the words coming out of their mouths are the same, doom and gloom. Of course, that is, until the Celtics win it all and then they disappear or issue an apology for their negativity basing it on facts in evidence that made their view realistic.
I myself don't mind taking a critical view of this team but there's being critical and there's being what some on this site are.
I personally don't get it. I remember quite clearly 30 something years of disappointment with very very few playoff runs as a Red Sox fan. I remember quite clearly 28 years of disappointment with very very few playoff runs as a Patriot fan. The Bruins haven't had a realistic shot at a cup in 40 years. The Celtics disappeared from being a serious title contender for two decades. While the C's are in a very rare playoff run that might not come around again for years or decades do you really want to waste the good times being so pessimistic about them?
Why choose to be pessimistic while in the middle of a playoff run? So you can be proven to be right or show that you are more basketball savvy? Screw that. I would rather cheer my team on and be wrong in the end than constantly spouting doom and gloom about my team when I desperately want them to win.
