I clearly remember, because it happened so recently, a certain other Boston team losing 2 playoff games AT HOME and coming back and winning that series.

This Celtic team has champions on it, and if that other Boston team can do it, we certainly can.

I sometimes think there's a rather large tommy point contest that I don't know about where people are heavily rewarded for giving up on the team's chances as early or as totally as possible.

I'm pretty sure I got 2 tommy points out of that Third Eyed Blind reference. Any thoughts to maybe posting some "Semi Charmed Life" Lyrics?

Until someone wins on the other teams'court there is nothing to worry about.Heat did what they were suppose to do(hold serve)win there home gsmes. Now its the Celtics turn to return the favor. As a fan,if you came into this series with skepticism about the C's chances then its understandable your giving up this soon.

Ok, nothing is over until we decide it is...

Let the games be played, and if anyone knows what's going to happen, bet online, go to Las Vegas... take advantage of your knowledge. I'll be happy for my fellow celticbloggers  ;)

Go Celtics!!!

To those of you acting as if the "pessimists" are being ridiculous, here are quotes taken directly from the front page of Celticsblog.  Is Jeff a crazy pessimist along with the rest of the posters saying how bad it looks right now?

Quote
Sometimes talent wins.
. . . .
Now (at least so far) it appears that the Miami Heat are the better team.
. . . .
They flipped the switch thinking that they could just duplicate what happened last year with another shot at the Lakers in game 7.  That's fine against the Knicks, but the Heat are a different story.
. . . .
Miami is the team that is handing us our butts on a silver platter.
. . . .
This series isn't over, but I can't help but think that the torch is in the process of being passed.

I generally perceive Jeff as one of the reasonable, level-headed people around here.  It's telling that even he sees the writing on the wall right now.

I think there's varying levels of pessimism - logical concerns to complete overreactions, I think for the most part the criticisms are re: those of our community who are acting as if the world is coming to an end.

I posted a follow up after game 1 saying "no big deal", "don't worry" considering Boston played miserably and the Heat were at the top of their game. We only lost by 9. We're in this. Then you watch last nights debacle where the bench actually came to play, other than BBD of course. We have it tied at 80 and proceed to roll over and let them take it to us however they want.

Fact is, we can't stop their offense. 2 of their "Big 3" have to be off in order for us to be in these games with them. They have the best players on the floor in Wade and Lebron. PP is playing hurt. Rondo is supposedly playing hurt. We are without Shaq...

I hate to say this, and I don't think it makes people less of fans to admit it, but we are basically done. We aren't going to beat the Heat 4 out of the next 5 games with those injuries and them peaking towards the end of the season and us floundering in that same stretch. I don't think Perk would have made any difference out here. I am not sure Shaq will do a whole lot either if he is able to come out and play. Like Superman though, he may be our only hope.

Well, I think people tend to perceive me as wildly negative, but my view is simply that the Heat are a better team right now, which is primarily a result of the Celtics being too old, tired, and banged up.

This group gave us a great 4 years, and they are talented enough to remain a 40-50 win team for another couple years.

That's not contending, though, and I'd rather see Danny blow it up and start rebuilding now to hopefully get some value out of our older players and young role players instead of starting from scratch.

I think there's definitely some validity to that thought, but I don't think it needs to be addressed until these playoffs are officially over

How are your claims that the Celts are done contending any different than similar claims before the 2010 playoffs began?

hey, did we all give up on the Bruins when they went down 0-2 to the habs going back to montreal?

sure its a tough road for these celts to take and pretty imporbable, but if anyone can do it its this group of guys. win the next 2 at home and we've got a series on our hands here
