Can we get rid of Dr. Brian McKeon? The KG disaster in 09, misdiagnosing JO's knee which obviously was in need of surgery, and now misinforming Ainge on Shaq's return. Danny is being made the fall guy, but he made this trade based on the medical opinion of our team physician. If your team doctor says Shaq will definitely be ready, what are you supposed to do? I strongly doubt Ainge would have made the deal unless he had assurances.

Lack of surgery was JO's fault as I understand it.

somehow I agree, it seems like the injury bug this year for us is an example of how bad our medical staff really are

i mean yes JO's decision for not doing surgery is his fault, but lets not talk about JO. We had many players injured, remember that one time against the Heat when our whole bench was injured?

Perkins getting injured on his knee again against the Warriors?

As far as Shaq is concerned.....if the man can't even run...he ain't playing.

Just think about it. This game needs you to run.

It's the playoffs to boot.

Even if we had time to get Shaq healthy enough to run...can he sprint?

If we get him healthy enough to sprint...how long can he sprint before he blows up the condition again?

What a backfire this whole center position fiasco has been.
We will do just fine with a combination of JO and Krstic.

Only if Krstic plays like he did in his first 5 games in green.  If he plays like he did the rest of the season we won't.

Source seems dubious, but if this is true, well, there's the ball-game folks.

If you expect him to pull ~10 rebounds in ~10 minutes per game, that's not going to happen. If you expect him to play more than ~10 minutes per game on a regular basis, that's not going to happen.

In 10 minutes per game, he'll be just fine.

I'm looking forward to hearing this from official sources rather than anonymous sources, but I think it really now all comes down to the health of J.O.  If he gets hurt I don't see how they'll be able to win with a center rotation of Baby and Krstic.

So you actually know exactly what McKeon has told Danny Ainge? Care to share?

If I was the Celtics management (DA) I wouldn't give out ANY reliable information on the future availability of Shaq.  It makes no sense to do so.  All you are doing is giving the other team another advantage knowing for sure that you don't have to game plan for Shaq.  Let the opposition wonder, thinking that Shaq really is day to day...

If he is done he is done, tell the team in the privacy of the locker room and move on.  But I never understood all the griping here about how DA and the C's misinform everyone on injury status.  It is DA's job to not give other teams advantages by knowing what is really going on.  A good analogy would be Bill Belichick.  He always messes with the other teams preparation by being vague and unclear and sometimes outright misleading on the injury report.

Personally, I doubt we will see Shaq back during this series or the next series.  Now if we get to the ECF or the Finals those are a long ways off, and who knows what can happen.

They did exactly this with Garnett in 2009. I fully expect them to go the same route with Shaq this season.

Not discounting the source, but I'll believe when I see it. Until then, I'm happy with JO/Nenad and Glen. Murph may be able to give us something, too.

... and I fully expect that Shaq plays exactly as many minutes this postseason as KG did that year.

It's pretty logical to assume he was given a clean bill of health by McKeon. Or do you really think Ainge was told there was a high probability that Shaq doesn't play in the playoffs and said, "screw it" and did the trade anyways? Without being condescending, what you think Ainge was told?

Shaq is a luxury with JO back. IT would have been nice to have him, but you need an 8-man rotation in the playoffs and with JO back and looking good, we have that. It's not ideal and the Perk trade looks worse now, but we can still win it..
