I said this right after he hurt his calf. Least reliable basketball player in the league. Time for him to hang them up.

Shaq is a luxury with JO back. IT would have been nice to have him, but you need an 8-man rotation in the playoffs and with JO back and looking good, we have that. It's not ideal and the Perk trade looks worse now, but we can still win it..

You need an eight-man rotation, and Krstic shouldn't be in it.

If we had Perk and JO right now...  I'm convinced we're the favorites to win it all.  Knicks might still be giving us some fits, but I can't see going much further counting on JO for 25 minutes and Krstic/BBD splitting the rest.

In an eight man rotation, I suppose I could buy Krstic not being in it. But, if that means BBD is the 5 off the bench, it will result in us giving up more rebounds like we have. Krstic does need to be in the rotation, assuming he's actually healthy, even if it results in a 9-man rotation.

I don't buy anonymous sources, but honestly, this is kind of common sense.  They guy couldn't do one sprint, there is no way they can count on him at this point.  Frankly, it would be foolish to put any eggs in that basket.

If he comes back, great, but they need to be planning on going forward without him.

Bill Burt's been around for a long time, and isn't he simply reported what we had all concluded anyway?

I would play Nenad regardless because it can only help JO stay fresh and limit Baby to more PT at the 4.

Well, according to Scott Souza, Doc said today that Shaq is improving and will try a few things at practice tomorrow. That doesn't sound like a coach who has already accepted that his starting center is out for the year.

Well, there is a difference between accepting it, and planning for it.

This article never said Shaq is out for the year.  All it said is that they are moving forward as if he will not be returning.  Which is really what they would do with any injury that didn't have a definitive return date.

I think they all still have hope that Shaq will be back.  But until its more than just hope, they cannot plan on him returning.

So now Shaq is a "luxury?"  What am I missing here? The guy has gone from a critical piece to winnning the championship to a luxury. I know that JO is back, but JO does not do for the offense was Shaq does, and from what I can see, the offense continues to be the biggest problem for this team.

we're done.   Second round fodder if the Knicks don't find a way to off us.

I wouldn't even test him until prior to the start of the second-round or if the Knicks make this series interesting.

The longer we wait the better chance of him returning, at least you would think.
