Well, according to Scott Souza, Doc said today that Shaq is improving and will try a few things at practice tomorrow. That doesn't sound like a coach who has already accepted that his starting center is out for the year.
Could have predicted that Doc or Danny would say something like that after a negative Shaq report.  It's almost like they're trying to give their own players hope.

I don't think the players are in the dark about this.  They all talk with Shaq, and are in the gym with him.  They know exactly what's going on.  If there is any spin going on, it is for the public, and perhaps a little bit for their opponents.

we're done.   Second round fodder if the Knicks don't find a way to off us.

yea because the Heat are just sooo dominant inside with big Z and Joel Anthony ::)

Its not even that, do you think Krstic is going to stop LeBron and Dwyane Wade going to the basket? Because Jermaine is going to be in foul trouble in every single game in that Heat series book it, and front courts of...

Krstic/Green
Krstic/Baby
Baby/Green

Are not going to cut it... unless Baby learns how to take charges again.

Jermaine/KG is our only hope now.

Quotes from Doc on Shaq, which are pretty positive :

"For the record, Doc was asked if he thinks Shaq will play at some point in the playoffs; "Yes." " Doc also said that if we see Shaq traveling to NY there is "a good chance" he plays on Sunday (for game 4).

Again I will believe it when I see Shaq on the court but I just don't see the point of dragging this story everyday if he really can't come back at some point, in that sense it's different from KG where they announced right from the start of the playoffs that he was out.

I think you may be right about the opponents. But that's probably it.  For the fans, don't see what's to gain other than ruining their own credibility for telling us what's going on.  The tickets are already sold.

It will be the wing defenders responsibility to keep Wade and LeBron out of the paint. Once they are there, it doesn't really matter what big is there, they usually finish or get fouled.

I think Krstic will be fine against Ilgauskas or Howard or even Anthony. None are overly physical and he has the length to get in there and grab boards. He also will drag them out of the paint on offense.

Baby should be better than he has been, but that isn't saying too much. Maybe we unleash Murphy sometime soon.

Remember the last game against the Heat?  Joel Anthony sucks, but our frontcourt made him look like the Heat's fourth All Star.

Key line in A Sherrod's story:
Dr. Brian McKeon, the C's team doctor, said the 39-year-old has a Triceps Surae injury which has created pain around his right calf and Achilles Tendon that has been too painful for him to play through.

I thought the calf and Achilles injuries weren't related?  One could conclude otherwise based on this.

Well...doesn't the calf muscle envelop the Achilles?

When it happened, the Celtics said the calf injury was unrelated to the Achilles.
