Dwight may not be pacient if they fail again next year, and the market is not nearely floded with talent as it was last year.

I agree. They went from Eastern conference champs (granted because of KG being out, but they still beat a good Cavs team) to almost getting swept by us in the conference finals to a likely first round exit.

Dwight is undoubtedly getting better, yet they are getting further and further from elite. Otis Smith made AWFUL trades IMO, and set this team up for failure regardless of a new CBA. They have ZERO assets to bring in someone big to entice D12 to stay. It's only a matter of time before he walks or demands a trade.

Indeed.  The Magic will almost certainly trade him this summer so that they can get something in return for him instead of nothing.

I think there's a good chance they send him to the Nets for Brook Lopez and change.  I would LOVE to see the Rockets somehow manage a trade for him, though.  They have so many assets.

So with the Lakers tied 2-2, the Spurs down in their series, and the Heat and Bulls failing to complete their sweeps, can we finally put to rest the silliness that was floating around on this board last week that alleged that if the C's were serious contenders, they wouldn't have had to narrowly win Games 1 and 2?

The Rockets have many good assets but no great assets. They lack top tier prospects / trade assets.

As a result, they are going to be priced out of every elite talent on the trade market.

Eh, I don't think that's necessarily true.  They have a lot of picks as well as assets.  The Knicks didn't have to give up any "great assets" to get Carmelo.  Part of that was because of the leverage they had with Melo stating that he wanted to go there, but the Rockets could work out something similar with Howard.

Howard is in a different tier (MVP type of player) and it's hard to see him pressuring Orlando to leave to Houston. No reason for Orlando to trade him for role-players... which is everything Houston has to offer.

The foul just called on Gasol (8:20 pm) defending Duncan is a perfect example of what's wrong with NBA officiating.  Despicable call.  Contact initiated by Duncan EXCLUSIVELY.....a very easy non-call as beforehand they were both just standing there waiting for Tim to make a move....worst call I've seen this playoffs.....this comes two minutes after what may or may not have been a clean steal by Tony Allen....looked clean but who knows....

It was not called on Gasol. It was an away from play foul by Zach Randolph on McDyess.
