I think someone from the league's office gave the referees an earful about LeBron's travel late in that overtime period in Game Four. That bucket that pretty much won the game for Miami.

They are making much more of an effort at trying to spot those violations tonight. Clearly someone has complained and made it a point of emphasis for the refs coming into tonight's game.

----------------------------------------

On a related note, I hate this type of reactionary officiating ... referees changing the way they make calls because someone from the league's office or one of the team's complained about it.

It's their reactionary ways that makes coaches + players + teams in general whine about referees to the media.

What's the solution then? The regular NBA rulebook doesn't apply to LeBron. If it did, he would have been called for more charges, travels and personal fouls.

Stars get the preferential treatment....so what is one supposed to do then if not speak out?
I think some type of feedback from players / teams is a good thing but I don't want to see it on a daily basis.

Make it a quarterly thing throughout every season with the final one just prior to the playoffs.

I just hate seeing refereeing decisions that are so different night to night ... and different because someone complained and the league decided to heed their complaints and then proceed to give instructions to their referees on what to do in the next game. I hate that. With a passion.

If that isn't manipulating referees calls, I don't what is.

I agree with this. I hate the game to game stuff. I especially hate when you know a game is going to be played "tight" because of an altercation in a previous game.

You cannot say the Heat don't know how to close games anymore. This is impressive.

Chicago got too comfortable - walking the ball up way too much. Now they're down.

Unbelievable ... what a collapse from Chicago. They were up 12 with three plus minutes to play.

Lucky comeback from Miami. Some timely hot shooting has bailed them out and given them a second chance.

Refs gave the Mavs the West series on a silver platter. Now the refs are giving the series to Miami. This is ridiculous. Not sure the Thunder really could have taken Dallas; but the Bulls have definitely shown that they can beat Miami if the Refs would stop letting Lebron and Wade have their way. Lebron constantly walks and pushes off. He gets ridiculous calls if people so much a breath on him.

It would be nice to have consistency but the preferential treatment that the stars receive has been ongoing for many a years now.

You don't think the league has received complaints about officiating in all these years? The big wigs that run the whole show are obviously happy with the way the things are run. Ref manipulation starts with the preferential treatment that is meted out to the stars day in and day out. Until that is stopped, guys like Mark Cuban will continue to speak out and be fined for it.

man...yet another collapse from the bulls. complacent play on their part, ridiculous/lucky shooting by miami (especially wade's 4 point play)...even if they win this game, i suspect they'll get blown out in game 6. i've been massively disappointed in chicago.

Is Miami the toughest team in the league for Derrick Rose to play against?

Their combination of big wings with great quickness to switch over and defend him + the mobility of their big men with their pick and roll defense.

I agree get_banners, Chicago got a lead and expected Miami to lay down. Stopped being aggressive.
