Lakers currently losing to the Mavs in Game 2.  Wishful thinking, I know, but if the Lakers could go down 0-2 against the Mavs I'd feel sooooo much better about where the Celtics are right now.

If Dallas does win against LA, are they are favourite against Oklahoma or Memphis?

If I am remembering correctly, Dallas frustrated Kevin Durant more so than any other team last season. Shawn Marion was very effective defensively against them. Not sure how Durant has done against them this season. I imagine he lit up Caron Butler fairly easily but I wonder how he did against Marion.

Dallas won the season series 2-1 against Oklahoma. The Thunder's win coming while Dirk Nowitzki was out injured. The Mavs did have Caron Butler for the first two games though.

The Mavs lost 3-1 against the Grizzlies though. Lost two nail-biters (one point victories) + lost in a blowout + blew out the Grizzlies in the other game.

That's tough.  The Grizzlies would seem to match up very, very well with the Mavs.

I'd pick the Mavs over the Thunder (hesitantly), but I'd have a hard time picking between them and the Grizz.

I think I'd pick the Mavs because they managed to knock off the Lakers, but at that point it would be pretty difficult to pick against the Grizz since they would have already gotten through two series in which they were expected to lose.

The Lakers are getting away with a lot of physical play/hits. If the Celtics were allowed to do the same to LeBron and Wade for a few minutes....I'm pretty sure they would've stopped driving to the rim. >:(

I like this Mavs team.  They play really solid defense and Dirk is playing with the kind of confidence and killer instinct Paul had in '08.

If the Celtics had that kind of size and strength inside (Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Artest), I'm sure the Heat would've stopped driving to the rim.

So yes.

So yes.

You don't need size to deliver hard hits. Jermaine, KG, Paul and BBD are very capable of doing that. What you need is refs that will allow such physical play.

Wow, Derrick Rose took 27 shots and 6 free throws to get 25 points against Atlanta earlier today. 8 turnovers, ouch. That ankle must be bothering him. That has several very inefficient games since it happened.

In his last five games, Rose is shooting only 35% from the field on 22 shot attempts a night. Only one good shooting performance in the five games. And in the previous four games, Rose has only gotten 4 FTAs per game (big 15 FTA in fifth last game).

Is that just the defense? Indiana and Atlanta both playing that well defensively? Or is Rose's injury hurting his game?

It's probably the injury, although it looked like Teague was doing a good job on his defensively.  Rose certainly wasn't playing good defense on Teague today (7-14 for 21 points)

Tyson Chandler is playing really impressive defense on Bynum right now.

as i suspected, The lakers are in real trouble and may be done, They lose this game and they are in way worse shape than the celts. Of course the awful part about how the dominoes are falling is we just had to get past Mia to win the title and that looked like a 100% deal until after the all star break

I'm guessing we're about to witness Kobe time.  I'm hoping that just means he takes a lot of shots and doesn't make enough.

We'll see.

Lakers biggest weakness pick and roll defense. Frustrated Kobe, just fun.
