i think they are getting him rest and wanting him to slim down...vinnie relax...season will be fine . this is the deepest boston has ever been with the big three and they have never been more versitile. let them get the new parts integrated

I love when the king of game thread panic tells someone to relax --  ;D  Anyway, Danny might be succeeding selling a lot of you land in Florida when he says JO and Shaq will be fine, but he is not selling me. The guy has missed six weeks of basketball. I hope the Danny believers are right.

i still don't think they make the move unless they felt certain they would be ready for the playoffs

And I will repeat my mantra -- they were also sure that KG was coming back in 2008-2009

Hasn't Wyc pretty much said they knew KG would be out back then?  So you're suggesting that Danny doesn't think we'll have the O'Neals, but in his basketball judgment we are still better off with the deals he made?

So they knew KG was going to be out, but they kept saying he was going to be back in two weeks, back before the end of the season, back for the playoffs, etc. I guess I am confused. I believe they thought he was going to come back, but I could be dead wrong.

I hope you guys are all right.  Sounds plausible.  I want DWest to hurry back, however, so we can start resting Ray..and then Pierce and KG too.

Green's presence will cut both PPs and RAs minutes. Arroyo will pick up the slack at the 1 and AB can spell Ray also at the 2, as long as he doesn't bring the ball up the court, which Arroyo will do.

Don't come back, Delonte, till you're fully healed. He knows the system and he will be ready for the playoffs.

This is what I don't like about the KG situation. First, KG actually came back in late March, but it was apparent that he was still hurt. The rest was hope that he could go at some point during the playoffs... I mean, we actually had seen him practicing a bit during the playoffs if I remember correctly.

Meh, sore foot. Playoff game he would be playing. No big deal as far as I'm concerned.

Sure he would play BUT... he is hurt for sure and he keeps getting different injuries. I just hope this is the last ding.

is Eddy Lacerte just pulling lottery balls with dates printed on it out of a giant mixing bowl everyday and reporting it to Doc and Danny?

I hate to critisize Eddy but his injury estimations and diagnosis have been pretty sketchy over the past couple years.  What the heck is going on?

Are you serious Shaq?  I didn't really expect either the O'Neals to play more than 60 games, but they aren't even gonna make 60/164 BETWEEN THEM.

At this point I don't think Shaq should even be standing until the playoffs.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

The guy has missed half the season. At some point, it is absolutely a concern. It is amazing the amount of lee-way Shaq gets from Celtics fans compared to JO.

It's not like the Celtics don't need him right now considering all the injuries. And, it's not like he's been playing recently to cause a foot injury. He's barely done anything and managed to bring back pain in his foot.

I agree.  This guy played for ages with painful big toe arthritis -- remember that?  My take is the same as yours -- if this were the playoffs he'd be playing.

To some degree, estimating the time out for injures is always like pulling lottery balls.

It is hard to estimate these things and people only tend to remember the misses. The forget all the close estimates.
