Not too mad about the Kendrick trade, even though it ruined our contention this season, it was good for 2012 and beyong...dumping Erden and Harangody was still ridiculous though

Haha...yeah cause Harangody was doing so well!! You realize if Danny doesn't dump those two scrubs, he can't add Troy Murphy or anyone else, right?????

Harangody is useless, do what you will with him.  But Murphy isn't going to be a better fit here than Erden
Have you seen Murphy play?

i liked the trade from day one. like it even more now they have improved their depth at the 3, 4 and 5 with 2 spots still open to bring in the best available. one this is for certain. i don't see this team running into any issues where a guy like shledon williams is playing important minutes in games 6 and 7 of the NBA finals

BTW..Murphy was a 15 plus guy for the pacers..he gave the celtics fits. to say he is no better than erden is just uninformed

Erden has two shoulder injuries that are going to require surgery this off-season. Danny already said he wouldn't have been able to physically make it trhough the rest of the season

Murphy is averaging close to a double double for his career and can shoot 3's . Sorry erden is not better than Murphy

Erden > Murphy

That is riot, Murphy averaged more PPG and RPG as a rookie. I figure this was satire.  Even his benched stats this year are superior to Semih.

Perk was the most expendable starter we had.  I think if the Murphy coming here stuff is true then we came out ahead of this trade definitely.  Murph averaged 10.2 RPG last year and 14.6 PPG last year.  He was benched this year by Avery Johnson.  He should add scoring pop and rebounds to the second unit.  I think he will play more than think.

Now that Troy has committed to us, and Perkins quickly signed an extension that would have been way to much to afford, Danny has been completely vindicated for making the trade. It took guts to do what he did. Kudos to Ainge for making this happen.

way too much? that's a completely reasonable deal. you realize we're paying 6 mil to JO, right?

if anything Perk signing an extension and Murphy signing for the rest of the season makes the trade seem completely unnecessary...

They both fit equally well but Murphy is the better player.  At least he was for the first 9 years of his career.

JO comes off the books next year, when KG and Ray do. Perk's deal would have used up quite a bit of any cap space that would be available.

I think it's fair to say now that the set of post All-Star moves look very good on paper.  Still remains to be seen how everything shakes out on the court though.

But I think Danny has done a tremendous job of putting us in a position to win, which is all you can really ask of a GM.  Now the players and Doc have to get the job done.

Not only that, but he's adding green shoots under the old growth--while making them more competitive this year.  That's really some marvelous GM'ing.

We dumped those two guys, neither of which would have played in the playoffs for us for Troy Murphy and potentially Corey Brewer.

Still think it is rediculous?

Erden > Murphy

WOW....  First we make of Perk as Bill Russell, now we see Erden, a rookie scrub who just happened to shine in Celtic uniform as better than a borderline all-star who happens to be a double-double machine his entire career?   UNBELIEVABLE!!

Have you seen Murphy play?

Yes, I lived in Indiana for five years.  He's softer than Gasol in 2008.

Perk was the guy and we traded him.

If we win a Title or even make it to the Finals this season and next, then the cap situation matters. If we don't, honestly, we wasted two shots at a Title IMO.

I am not sure what happened to Murphy in NJ but he should be a fine bench big man for the celtics.  We are definitely ahead in terms of big man depth when you look at Murphy+Krstic vs. Gody+Erden.

I like the trade.  To me it boils down to trading Nate for Nenad (which I think we come out ahead on) then we get Green and a lottery pick for an injured Perk.

What I didn't understand was the Cleveland trade. I get that they were trying to open up roster spots but I didn't see why they would trade Erden for nothing but if Erden's shoulders are shot, that makes more sense.

The thing is that if both O'Neals are able to play, neither Murphy or Krstic are going to play much when it matters.  We were fine without Perk for most of the year so I am not concerned about replacing his contribution with this committee of big men.

Same was being said about krstic and he is down in the paint banging. Scenery always changes someones attitude and effort

Loved Perk, but I am not convinced he'll make a major impact in OKC.  Perk was one of those guys who just fell into his role by default... we traded half our team for KG and Ray and Perk happened to be the lone big man left.  He was never that impressive prior to that... he just happened to be a key cog in a system lead by 4 all-stars.

We made it to game 7 of the finals and lost, because we couldn't get a rebound.  Ainge goes out and gets the top big man last year from OKC  (Kristic), the top big man last year from Miami (Jermaine), the top big man last year from Cleveland (Shaq), the top big man last year from Indiana (Murphy)... and also takes the 3rd best player on OKC (Green) and the guy who I felt was the 2nd best player in the playoffs for the Cavs (Delonte)...   Not a bad makeover.   Aside from Murphy, they were all contributing to playoff teams.

Should solve our rebounding issues if a couple of the bigs can stay healthy.

Meanwhile, OKC gets an injury plagued big man whose ceiling is a slow, unathletic Ben Wallace.  It's a good trade-off for us.
