No you are wrong. Don't forget Perk shared the floor with the worst shooting Guard in NBA history Rajon Rondo AKA space killer. In OKC Perk will have more space to roam in the paint. If his man leave to help out on anyone Easy putback layup for Perk.

But he is a CENTER! He doesn't need to have a jumpshot. The black-hole on offense was Rajon Rondo and his lack of shooting at the 1. It forced Ainge to reshuffle the championship starting 5 to compensate for Rondo's weaknesses.

Not at all. Did you listen to a word Danny Ainge said yesterday? Sure Rondo is a bad jump shooter, but he is a great penetration and getting to the rim. If we have a big "center" in there who can't do anything but stand in the lane hoping for easy layups, then that means the other teams large center will also be in the lane. Therefore, making it much much harder for Rondo to do what he does and get to the rim.

Getting shooters who we can play late instead of a big man to clog the lane helps Rondo at the end of the game. Ainge said this himself. This will help Rondo, therefore you know it was a big reason he made the trade.

Great, More Long Jump-Shots. Exactly what Celtics needed. Long, Long, Long shots without anyone to collect those bricks. Maybe I'm naive but I prefer a conventional Center. Someone who tough as nails, fights for every inch inside the paints, plays angry, and punks the daylight out of players.........Sorta Like Oklahoma Thunder Starting Center Kendrick Perkins. I truly believe this is a step back in the wrong direction. Ainge took away Celtics strength for a bench players. I hope I'm wrong but this could get ugly. Taking huge gamble on O'neal Brother Health. Yikes!

If we have players who can spread the floor, it'll be easier to get into the lane. Thus, not relying solely on jump shots. It's pretty simplistic.

It's cool to be able to throw different looks and combos out there.  A post-up C like Shaq, and then a shooter like the new guy will require teams to plan their defenses against us in a new way.  It's cool.

Part of what made Sheed (not the fat guy we had last year, but earlier in his career) so special is that he was both of those guys.

CelticsBlog was over joyed last year when the Cavs signed Shaq...the reason: "Shaq will clog the lane...LeBron won't be able to drive...etc etc."...and when they lost..all I read whas "Mike Brown was an idiot..Hickson should have played the 5...Brown didn't have the guts to bring Shaq off the bench etc etc".

It's amazing how Shaq has gone from a lane clogger to a spacer all in one year.

I'm not buying it either.

As much as I love ShaQ, his age hasn't changed (39). Does Ainge have some Hot-Tub time machine that we don't know of?  You lose rebounding, Defense, and intangibles (Chemistry, Leadership, Toughness...). That was the recipe to defeating the Heat & matching up withe the Lakers. Dominate the paint with our Bigs & Rondo to wreck-Havoc. Now What? Kill them softly with easy lanes to the hoop. Lebrick and Wade licking their chops to go against Nenad and ShaQ. ***** Party at the basket.

Just to be fair someone on OKC sites could say "a shoot-first point who can win dunk contests...packaged for Jeff Green and Krstic....Unless the C's management saw something in Krstic we didn't this trade was all about Jeff Green for them." Harping on Krstic isn't fair in that regard as compared to Perk as the equivilant pieces are Green=Perk, Nate=Krstic. And I would say Krstic is a better player than Nate and can help this team more.

I love Perk. My heart sunk when I heard he was traded. Still, as hard as it is one has to seperate the heart from the head when thinking on a basketball level about the trade. Heart? I hate it. Head? It makes sense given where this season is. Perk has been out most the year and the team hasn't suffered. Not even defensively all that much. Offensively Perk can be a liability. Quise going down opened up a huge hole in the C's needs, a hole Green fills. He saves PP minutes and he can play solid D (and pass well). Perk out in game 7 hurt the C's. Riding the starters big minutes to the point that they wore out hurt even more. These moves look to counter that latter point. Would we have one game 7 with Perk? Perhaps. But it wouldn't change PP et all being wiped out, missing makeable shots  which was a bigger factor. Anyways, I feel ya but just a little bit of perspective. And no one here is bashing Perk. I am sure to a (wo)man everyone here loves Perk dearly as I certainly do. Pointing out on an on the floor level how this trade works for The C's isn't bashing Perk.
