ESPN "experts" are full of it. They proclaimed the trade a steal for the Thunder and that it turned them into contenders in the West. Only one problem. Without Jeff Green, teams are free to double or triple team Durant. Even with Perk, they lost big on the offensive end and have no depth behind Durant should he go down.

That is a big gamble.

well, they did get much better on the defensive end thru Perk and by giving Ibaka more minutes. so it'll be interesting to see how it all works out. i think it was a good trade for the Thunder.

The question becomes how well the offense functions with two limited offensive players in Ibaka and Perkins.  Should be easy to clog the lane on them.

I know some lineups show the Thunder better with Ibaka than with Green, but that was with Krstic who can knock down jumpers.  What's going to happen when two guys can't?

Also, how will Perk function with the "uptempo" Thunder?

Still don't think it's necessarily bad, too early to tell from either side.  Perk certainly brings a lot to the table.

Tp Good points; but to me is a short sighted move that gives their team a split personality rather than playing to their strengths. Magic are just triple teaming Durant and letting Dwight keep Westbrook away from the basket forcing him to be a shooter. They have no one to space the floor without Green.

not to mention Kristic's outside shooting. We made the trade to spread the floor for Rondo. Ainge wins again.

With Green, Kristic, Delonte and Wafer in our second unit we will be able to open up all kinds of room for people to take it to the hole.

WAAAAY to early to judge the trade for both teams. Although I liked the trade for the Celtics.

I agree.

These are the same experts that I'm sure are still praying for a Heat-LA Finals.

Too bad Boston has plans to crash that party.

Well, the early returns from the OKC-ORL game? Perk's not playing yet, and Dwight is shredding them.

I have not seen both Westbrooke and Durant shoot this badly in the same game in a while.

I know this is a small sample size of the aftereffects of the trade, but so far ORL looks to win this game.

Durant and Westbrooke are 11-34 between them.

it's still very early after the trade, and you have to factor in that OKC are shorthanded tonight, but they will miss Green and Kristic spreading the floor for Durant and Westbrook

No you are wrong. Don't forget Perk shared the floor with the worst shooting Guard in NBA history Rajon Rondo AKA space killer. In OKC Perk will have more space to roam in the paint. If his man leave to help out on anyone Easy putback layup for Perk.

Scary starting lineup: Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Ibaka, and Perkins.

that's that's the main reason Perk rode the bench in crunchtime, and why we made the trade. He clogs up the floor with his lack of shooting.

But he is a CENTER! He doesn't need to have a jumpshot. The black-hole on offense was Rajon Rondo and his lack of shooting at the 1. It forced Ainge to reshuffle the championship starting 5 to compensate for Rondo's weaknesses.

They can't get away with starting Sefalosha with Perk and Ibaka in the frontcourt and Russ Westbrook with a broke jumper.  Makes them way to easy to defend in the half-court.

They have to start Harden and feature Ibaka's mid-range J, a la Garnett.

Have the pieces to be top 5 defensively now though.  Probably need awhile to develop the defensive mindset.

Durant and Westbrook are transcendent talents, but they have a lot of maturing to do offensively as well.  Both suffer from some terrible bouts of shot selection and wildness.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger
PF: Pau Gasol/Al Horford
C: Yao Ming/Tyson Chandler
