Tonight, i hope The Jed will carry us to victory from the cleanup spot.

Weird lineup, but Jed does destroy lefties. I'm rather nervous, but somewhat optimistic for some reason.

Nice to see some of the young prospects doing some damage for us (seems like that only happens for the Rays).

Looking right now like it might still be tied going into tomorrow.  With Rays starting Price tomorrow, that's practically a guaranteed win for them.  The Sox, on the other hand, have to start Lester on short rest.

If the Sox manage to get as far as Thursday, who starts the game?  If Lester starts on short rest tomorrow, are we stuck with Lackey? Wakefield? Miller?  None of the options are appealing.

I would love to see the tiebreaker game that really means something to both teams.

won't be much fun if the Rays are starting , well, any of their starting pitchers and the Sox have to trot out anybody but Beckett, Lester, or Buchholz.

and the Yanks are going with all bullpen guys tomorrow with no Rivera.

still anything can happen I suppose.

Sox just have to take care of biz.

Really impressed with the load Aceves has carried.

Need Lester to show up tomorrow.

By far the biggest thing  He's coming off 3 straight mediocre-awful starts.  Let's hope he's figured out how to turn it around.

If there is a one-game playoff, the only existing options are Wakefield, Lackey, Miller, or Weiland.  All four of them have been awful.  If Aceves hadn't been so overworked lately, I'd put him out there instead.

There is one other option that they could consider: Trading for another starting pitcher who cleared waivers earlier in the season.  According to Boston.com, if they trade for someone, that person would not be eligible for the playoffs, but would be eligible to pitch in the tiebreaker game, since MLB does not consider it an official playoff game.

If I'm Theo, I would have to strongly consider this option.  Do you want to put your season in John Lackey's hands?

How can you know what is going to happen?  The Rays have put the whole season into the hands of rookie pitchers....will they be able to finish because they are good and don't know any better, or will they fold under the pressure?  All I know is that I am really enjoying this season, but don't count the Red Sox out yet!   (My husband blames every Red Sox misstep on Francona.)

Never been so happy about a Yankees grand slam.

Sox need to retake the lead.  Golden opportunity here.

You have to play the young guys if you want them to produce...hard to contribute when you are sitting on the bench...someone tell Doc,  ;)

Rain delay!  Ugh.

what will happen if they postpone the game due to rain? Do they play the last 3 innings tomorrow?

It's already an official game although I'm sure the media and Tampa Bay Ray will have a field day if the game is handed to the Sox in a shortened manner.
