Bill Russell never signed autographs either.  And Larry had his moods when he wouldn't either.

Thank god we didn't have twitter back then...people who have hated on them too.

Can you imagine what Rambis' tweet would have been like after KM brought him down? :D

Dude, just sign the ball.

I see absolutely no reason at all that KG should be forced to sign a ball

Obviously, he wouldn't have to do anything.

Why the thread if it's so obvious?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
FYI for those who don't collect sports autographs; KG throughout his career has been one of the toughest signers in the game.  He doesn't even sign for the home fans.  Some stars such as Stat, D Rose, Durant, Westbrook etc even sign on the road.  But KG doesn't sign for anyone; really a non-story here.

I don't blame him. Alot of those who ask for autographs turn around and sell them on ebay. This is a Lakers ballboy I have a feeling alot of these ballboys could make quite a sum with autographs.

Yeah both of these are very valid points.

Plus, whether or not anyone is willing to admit it, to the common guy that doesn't wear celtics green, KG is a bit of a jerk. He's an extremely private person that doesn't like to be bothered and doesn't let in people easily.

He's also extremely rich, and good at promoting himself. His signature is worth money, he gives it away for what its worth. If an athlete doesn't want to put his mark on something, I'm not mad at him, even if it is for home fans.

You don't root for the guy because he's generous and kind, you root for him because he gives 110% and leaves it all on the court. If he's generous and kind (which I'm sure under the right controlled circumstances, KG is) that's a bonus.

Well said. Try getting an autograph from the legendary Mr. William Felton Russell.

I am pretty sure part of this must be out of context. He is a good guy. He doesn't seem like he would say sometihng unless he was provoked.

Since when do opponents at arenas have to sign autographs for opposing fans, let alone ball boys of your most hated rival? I know that Laker fans think it's a prick move but at least he wasn't in the same situation as Kobe was in Colorado...

My thoughts exactly. When has KG ever done anything off the court to offend anyone? Kobe on the other hand.....

Not comparing this in any way whatsoever to Kobe's personal history (not sure why that's relevant either), but here's one answer to your question:

Not sure what the context was, or what the motivations were for either KG or the ball-boy, but KG is an intense, very emotional human being, and being such, his intensity and emotions may not alway produce positive things ... that "human being" thing gets the best of all of us, and I thank God that my life, (and imperfections), aren't under the public scrutiny that someone like KG's are. Can we cut professional athletes just a little slack for being subject to the same human imperfections the rest of us have to deal with on an hourly basis? Please? I mean, a whole thread because he didn't sign a ball?!?

Malik Sealy remembered by friend Kevin Garnett
May 09, 2010 07:31 PM EDT
http://celebs.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978226597

Malik Sealy was remembered by his friend and former team mate Kevin Garnett. Sealy died on Garnett's birthday May 19th. Malik Sealy and Kevin Garnett played together when Garnett first came up in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Malik Sealy was a college star at St. John's in the 1990's. A young Kevin Garnett took notice of Malik Sealy and was instantly in awe. Garnett became a big fan of Sealy's. Garnett's former coach Sam Mitchell claims that Malik and Kevin were more than best friends, they were brothers. Mitchell reveals that is was Malik Sealy who brought a shy (hard to imagine I know) Kevin Garnett out of his shell.

On May 19th 2000 which was Kevin Garnett's 24th birthday the two celebrated KG's birthday with a party. Garnett said he left the party, went home and thanked God for the beautiful day he had just experienced. Later that night Kevin was awakened to bad news.

Malik Sealy had died in head on car crash which was caused by a pick up truck driving the wrong way on the road. Malik Sealy was buried on May 26th the same day that he and Garnett were scheduled to leave on a vacation together. Instead Kevin Garnett buried his best friend.

Kevin is a man who goes all the way or none of the way.
He doesn't believe in small talk and isn't looking to make
acquaintances or semi-friends. He's certainly not an extrovert.

Dude, just sign the ball.
Perhaps he should have posed for iphone photos and then Facebook friended him too. Then there'd be nothing bad to tweet about.  Perhaps some matching tattoos?  :-\
