Kobe Becomes 10th All Time in NBA Scoring

Did it yesterday. You can say what you want about Kobe, but he's most likely going to finish the year at 6th all time in NBA scoring history, behind Kareem, Malone, Jordan, Wilt, and Shaq.

In other news, the Lakers are playing subpar team basketball...thanks, in part, to Kobe's hogging of the ball. Individual accolades are nice, but I'll take a team that can win games as a team any day of the week.

Kobe has shot the ball 20 or more times in 15 games this year, the Lakers are 6-9 in those games, so there is definately some truth to the notion that in the games Kobe shoots a lot, the team is losing.

Of course the Lakers have won 3 of 4 and are tied with Utah for the 3 seed in the West (and would be the 4 seed in the east).

Top ten in FGA, too, I believe.  In an interesting correlation, players who shoot the ball a lot tend to score a lot of points.

Kobe is a great player, but as strange as it is to say, I don't think he maximized his potential.  On an individual level, he did about all he could do, but I think he could have won even more if his ego didn't get in the way.

  Points are only one facet of the game. His career ppg is only a shade ahead of Gervin and Nique fwiw.

Pretty sure LeBron is #1 on everyone's most hated player list now haha. Kobe's still top 5, but I respect him as a player and talent a little more than I used to.

He's about 12,000 points away...  That would take about 5 1/2 - 6 years at his current production.  It's doable, but I don't think he'll get there.  He will pass MJ for sure, though.
