Great player, best closer in the league, and a prick. His competitive drive to win is his greatest asset but it also can be a problem when things don't go so well. Kobe ball shuts down ball movement and is much easier to defend. I'm a big fan of it.

I agree with Kobe being 4th, and behind KG.

Kobe KG is a great player, but as strange as it is to say, I don't think he maximized his potential.  On an individual team level, he did about all he could do, but I think he could have won even more if his ego unselfishness didn't get in the way.

Oh yeah, well KG is FOURTH all-time in defensive rebounds (since 72-73 when they started keeping track)!  That's way more impressive, right?

Fourth best player of his era and I do think he'll keep playing till he gets the scoring record.

He's about 12,000 points away...  That would take about 5 1/2 - 6 years at his current production.  It's doable, but I don't think he'll get there.  He will pass MJ for sure, though.
I just think he won't be willing to walk away.

Fourth best...  behind Duncan, KG, and Shaq?
Yeah, best guard by a huge margin though. There is serious separation between those four and the rest.

I think Dirk/Pierce/Nash would be the next three? I'm sure I'm missing someone.

You really think KG is better than Kobe?
Over his career, yes without hesitation.

Kobe gets way to much credit for winning titles with Shaq in his prime. KG just played for a rubish franchise.

Not really, if only because it excludes Wilt/Russell and a lot of other dominate rebounders.

That was tongue-in-cheek, but I randomly happened across that today and it's still pretty cool.  He's not too far from 3rd either.

Hopefully he keeps up his current pace too, his improved work on the glass is one of the reasons the C's have been so good this year.

In other news, the Lakers are playing subpar team basketball...thanks, in part, to Kobe's hogging of the ball. Individual accolades are nice, but I'll take a team that can win games as a team any day of the week.

How about 5 championships for team accolades? Lakers are fine.

Haha. I like it.

And I agree, say what you want about Kobe, but you have to respect the guys game. He is no longer on my most hated player list. In fact, he is a phenomenon to watch.

Kobe is one of the few players I'd pay to watch....Other than the C's.

Congrats to him.

I'm sorry - I am a huge Celtic fan, but I just cannot put Kobe behind KG.  KG has never won a championship as the unquestioned best player on his team.  Kobe has 5 championships in total to KG's 1.  I agree with the Duncan and Shaq comparison, though.

Fourth best...  behind Duncan, KG, and Shaq?

I disagree. I have:

1. Shaq
2. Kobe
3. Duncan
4. KG

I'm sure you're not knocking Kobe by putting him at #4, as I'm not knocking Garnett by putting him at #4. I also think that 1-2 more rings for Kobe would move him up to #1 for me.

Kobe is definitely in front of KG, it would be a great debate, but it would be an interesting argument coming from both sides regarding Kobe being better than Shaq or Duncan.

That's like coming up with a list that puts McHale above Magic and Kareem, to put it in terms a Laker fan would understand (if he's old enough).

That is such a straw dog argument.

How many championships would Jordan have won without an in his prime Pippen...Or vice versa?

How many championships would Bird have won without an in his prime Parish or McHale?  Or vice versa?

That Kobe could win championships with completely different rosters  speaks to his quality as a player.
