I agree with Kobe being 4th, and behind KG.

I disagree. I have:

1. Shaq
2. Kobe
3. Duncan
4. KG

I'm sure you're not knocking Kobe by putting him at #4, as I'm not knocking Garnett by putting him at #4. I also think that 1-2 more rings for Kobe would move him up to #1 for me.

That's like coming up with a list that puts McHale above Magic and Kareem, to put it in terms a Laker fan would understand (if he's old enough).

Not sure I'm understanding you here, but I think you take issue with the fact that I would put Kobe at #1 with another 1-2 rings. Why wouldn't you measure a player by how many rings he has, given that he is/was the primary player on the team, or one of several primary players on the team.

You'd honestly put Kobe ahead of Shaq? The only guy in that category, in LEAGUE history, as far as I'm concerned, is MJ.

Kobe gets way to much credit for winning titles with Shaq in his prime. KG just played for a rubish franchise.

That is such a straw dog argument.

How many championships would Jordan have won without an in his prime Pippen...Or vice versa?

How many championships would Bird have won without an in his prime Parish or McHale?  Or vice versa?

That Kobe could win championships with completely different rosters  speaks to his quality as a player.

But it's possible (if not likely) that Bird would have won titles with players other than McHale or Parish and Jordan cold easily have won a title without Pippin, but the odds of Pippin, Parish or McHale winning titles without players like Bird or Jordan are slim at best. Not that I'm comparing them to Kobe, but players like Cassell and Horry won titles with completely different rosters.

My point is that on the court KG has done more for his teams than Kobe has. He's done so in the regular season and the playoffs.

Kobe had the luxury of playing with better talent, and thus got better results out of less performances.

Thats not a "straw dog" argument, in fact your whole "how many would Bird/Jordan/etc..." is an example of a fine straw man. I never said that Shaq would have won the three titles without Kobe on that team. Every title team requires a lot of talent on it, KG was never on a team like that until he got to Boston.

Look, I know that some of you are defensive because you don't like Kobe Bryant, but most with general basketball knowledge will give him credit, regardless of what they think of him. I don't like Wade or Lebron, but would never take away from how good of players they are. The truth is that Kobe has a very real chance to finish his career at 3rd or 4th in all time scoring.

No, I meant you putting Kobe ahead of KG and Duncan, both of whom were much better than Kobe in their primes.

I will take KG over Kobe.

In all the years KG was with the T-Wolves, he never had players as talented as Shaq or Gasol.

Kobe without either of them was an 8th seed wonder (or out of the playoffs)  And that is with players like Odom and Butler.  (on par with Cassel and Spree that KG got the best record in the West with)

Duncan
Shaq
KG
Kobe

(Gasol was the real final's MVP last year.  Kobe performed at the same level Lebron did against the Celtics defense)

Sure, but PP will finish with more career points than Bird did without being anywhere near the caliber of player that Bird was.

Are you able to read? If you could, you would see that I currently put Shaq ahead of Kobe. Also, I'm questioning how much of the 2000-2003 championships some of you actually watched, since it seems like you think that Kobe played no part in any of them.

No.  Many of us can look past the media hype that is created for these swingmen ever since Jordon.

How many time have we heard "the next Jordon" since Jordon played?

These players are the advertising gold, therefor they get hyped the most.

I watched them all, I have a question for you.

Put Paul Pierce or Ray Allen on those Lakers teams, do they still win three titles? I think they do, or at least would have the same chance at it.

In other news, the Lakers are playing subpar team basketball...thanks, in part, to Kobe's hogging of the ball. Individual accolades are nice, but I'll take a team that can win games as a team any day of the week.

How about 5 championships for team accolades? Lakers are fine.

Haha. I like it.

And I agree, say what you want about Kobe, but you have to respect the guys game. He is no longer on my most hated player list. In fact, he is a phenomenon to watch.

Pretty sure LeBron is #1 on everyone's most hated player list now haha. Kobe's still top 5, but I respect him as a player and talent a little more than I used to.

Sorry but I guess I am not everyone.  Lebron is not even in my top 5 and Kobe is still N0. 1.

I know tons of people that feel this way also.

Do I respect Kobe for his accomplishments and dedication...yes,  but I still hate that female cleansing product.

Yep, my bad. I don't have any problems with most of the people on here. I actually find Boston fans to be some of the most intelligent fans around, and that's why I like to discuss and post here. Definitely went out of line there.

Maybe they would. In my personal opinion, Kobe had some very clutch plays/performances. I'm not sure they would do the same, but it's certainly possible.
