Wow....just wow. Bill needs to not be in charge of personal  anymore. Between the drafts, adiluis, the seymore trade and now this, he's just not a very good gm.

Great coach, killing us since he took over the front office in 06 and Scott p left town.

Actually, Pioli left after 2008, which means the terrible drafts and the Thomas signing were on his watch.  Since he has left, the Pats have actually had a couple very good drafts.  And the Seymore trade is still up in the air.  If they get a top 10 pick out of it, I think it will be hard to blame him too much.

I disagree that the drafts since 08 have been good. We have no idea aboutthis years class yet, people thought maroney was going to be  a superstar based on his first 8 games.

Also, they better hope there is no lockout because if there is all those picks will be in one of the weakest drafts of all time. No underclassmen are coming out next year if there's a work stoppage.

And a top ten pick doesn't mean the seymore trade was a good one. They haven't really hit gold in the first round since 2006, a pick is very hit or miss for an established defensive lineman.

Well, the top 10 pick could become 2 later picks.

And the've done oh so well with those later picks in he draft.

And isn't the whole sell job on his trade that it will be an impact top ten player under a rookie cap? The farther and farther we get without a new cba, the more it looks like an uncapped draft that underclassmen won't be declaring for.

Good ridance Moss.  We gave you your second chance when no one else would and this is how you repay us.

Get outta town and I can't wait till we beat you and your Vikings butt in week 8!

Im as big a Patriot Honk than anybody, but uhm... Moss repayed us by being extremly productive on the field.

That and eh...whos going to defend Moss when the pats face him? seriously? when Moss wants to have a big game, he can explode for legendary stuff...Im pretty sure he'll be ready for a big game on that night.

I dont like the "Good riddance" moss nonsense...unless u been on that bandwagon before the trade

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I don't really care that the compensatory pick would have been a 5th and I don't care that Moss was a little unhappy, but I do care that we just lost one of the best weapons in the NFL all because of pride.

BB is one of the best coaches of all-time, but geez, sometimes you just have to look the other way instead of doing everything by the book. The Patriots will be the Patriots until Tom Brady retires, so I don't expect too much of a downturn, but when you are fighting for the top spot, any advantage helps and we just lost ours.

Eh, I don't think it was pride.  Perhaps ego played a part in it, because I think BB believes that he can win without Moss.  But I don't think this was a pride thing.  If it was about pride, they would have sent him somewhere he would be unhappy, rather than Minnesota, where he was for so many years, and where they are going to really appreciate them.

I think Belichick thought Moss was going to be a problem child if he didn't trade him, and he thought they could still contend without him (or maybe he thought they couldn't even contend with him).  And of course he (rightly) thought that it was good value, even if it hurt the team this year.

An argument I've heard a couple of times is "The Patriots became convinced that they could survive without Moss because he didn't catch a pass on Monday, but they still put up 41 points."

That doesn't make much sense to me, because:

1.  Moss opens up space on offense even without scoring; and

2.  21 of those points came on defense and special teams, and 7 more came after a blocked punt.  Up until halftime, the offense was majorly struggling.

Ya I dont think thats a valid argument at all.  Course at the same time, how quick would moss be chased out of town if the past lost on monday and he didnt have a catch

If he's going to ask for a trade and cause problems then bye I don't want you hear anymore.  I wish we could have gotten more, but I'd rather get rid of him for something rather than just let him walk and only get a fifth round pick.  No one knew he asked for a trade before.  The Patriots did an excellent job of keeping all of this quiet and getting him out before he caused a huge problem.

Oh and if can explode for a Big Game any time he wants then where was he during the Jets game and Miami.

I know that he really helps with being the deep threat and causes a lot of double teams, but if he is going to be a head case then good ridance to him.

We also sent a 2012 7th round pick.  This keeps getting better and better

I really hope the undisclosed pick is better than a 3rd rounder.  We really aren't getting a fair value, but I'm thinking this will be an addition by subtraction.

BTW, here's hoping that the Pats send the 3rd rounder from Minny + the extra 2nd rounder to SD for Vincent Jackson.
Yes please!

Well, I think based on other recent trades, it is fair value.  It just is tough to swallow doing that midseason.
