I pretty much Agree with everything you said Roy, I do however think that they are still gonna have one of the best offenses in the league.  I think they still have a good deal of weapons but we will certainly find out in the next couple weeks.

The more i look into it, while there are certainly the some exceptions it seems like Players for picks trades dont yield good value for the teams giving up the players

I also wonder how they will deal with Wes being double covered. Without a deep threAt, the safety is goof to be in the box anyway, I would imagine Wes is going to see a ton of bracket coverage now, with the corner forcing him inside to the safety doubling.

This would have made more sense if we had a dominate rb the defense had to respect.... We seem like a pretty mediocre west coast offense now

Another real good point fought up on week, if you knew this was coming as the patriots, which some ballaashers are suggesting, why didn't you draft fez Bryant and make a draft day move with moss?

This whole trade stinks and makes zero sense, we just punted he season at 3-1. Even more pressure on a young defense as I think the offense is really going to struggle with no back who can break one+ no deep threat. If this were madden I'd double we'd and put 9 in the box and dare this team to beat me deep

Tate is still a deep threat...and frankly so is Welker.  Not to mention both of the rookie tight ends can stretch the field and will draw attention from the safety.

It would be naive to think the loss of Moss will have no affect on Welkers ability to get open, but I don't think its going to be that dramatic.

This offense still has a ton of weapons.  Welker is still an elite reciever, Tate looks like the real deal, as do the TE's, and Edelman is also very good.  Oh yeah, and we still have Tom Brady.

This will certainly change the schemes a bit, but plenty of very good teams are successful with much less than what the Pats have.

I also think this could help the defense a bit, because it will force them to be more of a ball control offense, which will keep them off the field more.  We will be seeing more 9 play drives, rather than 70 yard passes...and that may be a positive with this defense.

I agree.
I think Belichick really likes this team and feels they can make a good run without Moss.  The first 4 games have convinced him of this.  A couple of years ago he was saying they needed to get younger and faster on defense, and that's just what they did.  Those great plays on special teams were the result of speeed!
I think Brady loves this team, also, as he seems really fired up this year.
So I feel good about this team's chances with or without Moss.

Apparently Bruschi is saying that Moss had become a problem in the lockerroom, and said that if he wasn't traded, he may have been cut later in the year.  Interesting.

Do you have a link for this? The thought of cutting randy moss seems almost unimaginable.

Which only points out how stupid it was toted him for noting on the pats part, they would have gotten the exact same pick for compensation when he walked after the season.

Throw in how atrocious his team has been drafting the last 4 years and I just don't see how this move can be defended in any reasonable way, barring some off the field incident we haven't heard of

My Friend just e-mailed me and said troy brown said on the sports hub that there was a lot of drama on the trip back from Miami. It got so bad that rumors were spreading that it might be worth it to just cut the guy. which backs up Chris's point

Like a link as well, though I'm always skeptical in anysport when these issues come to light post trade from reporters in bed win he team. Like when the red sox tried to retcon Pedro as the villain via nesn

Unfortunately not, it came from another forum with no link.  I think he said it on CSN, but not sure.  So, take it for what its worth.

I am too...although I trust Bruschi.  He is one of the few guys in the media that I would not question when it comes to knowing what is going on in the Pats lockerroom, and I think he has too much pride to make stuff up.

I also think it makes sense, because this trade makes no sense if Moss was not a problem.

I am pretty sure thats not true.  From what I have read, they would have gotten a 5th rounder after the season.

@Chris link? Weei and 98.5 are pretty sure that's the rule for compensation from the team signing moss as a free agent.

@ ip I'm amazed anyone can read my posts from the iPhone, after the first paragraph I can't see what it's typing and autocorrect goes to town making ip new words :)

Yup.  Just another example of why you should never trust anything said on sports talk radio/TV, particularly when it comes to rules.  These guys do not do research.

Good looking out rondo, you were right Chris.

Suprising, Dale and holly normally don't mess that stuff up. That's felger and maz territory.

Oh man, felger is going to be estatic today, he can claim he was right all along about moss being a failure as a patriot, even though it still won't be true

Come on. Those guys were clearly right when they said we could keep all of our players and sign Joe Johnson or LeBron James.

Retcon.

I saw it and thought to my self: "Okay, if that's a typo what it is supposed to be? Recast? Reimagined? Re-remembered?

Well, Crownsy is in law school, he's probably got this big list of legal terms I've never heard of (Roy tries to sneak them in once and a while). Maybe this is one of those...."

Turned out its not a legal term, but it is a term that a guy like me that has seen thousands of hours of TV, read hundreds or thousands of books, and at one time was more familiar than most with the marvel universe, should've known. Retcon.

Retcon: v. to retroactively revise (a plot, storyline, character, event, history, etc.), usu. by reinterpreting past events, or by theorizing how the present would be different if past events had not happened or had happened differently.
