I assure you that Lasme would fit perfectly into our system - defence and cooperation: trust your team.
He spent last couple of years in Serbia under a coach that forces Doc's strategy more than Doc himself.
Plus, he can be really explosive, like Nate and Davis last year. And honestly I think he's stronger than Powe... Been watching him for those couple of years. :)

~ and as for "too many big men" welllll, Shaq is already complaining about sore hips, and J oniel has a pulled hamstring....how old is the season..?  It was in todays paper.....okay so shaq sits and j oniel sits...well we can run kg every game...or we can put in sheed..or wait, that didn't work last year.......too many big men...sort of like the lakers problem too...! Did doc compaign hard to keep TA..? with this team and where he was at last year, it would have been PERFECT...! Hey doc...what about that guy that shut down.......every major player in the playoffs last year.....oh him, we don't need him. Besides, we have MD, look what HE did for us last year......he wasx hiding in a popcorn box.
I'm not sure what your point is, but Tony by all reports was offered equivalent money to stay. He chose to go to Memphis.

TA is now fighting for minutes with some very talented rookies. Is not clear his plan will work out as well as his ego led him to believe.

Well, that's debatable.  Ainge said they offered similar money, but the reports were the C's wouldn't match the years.  There also were reports that the salary was a bit short as well, and Danny was hoping for a hometown discount.

I think with Lasme, if he stays, it has to be at the expense of Harangody.  While it'd be nice to carry 7 big men, when Kendrick comes back, it'd be 8 (with Erden) and incredibly repetitive.  And while I agree with the notion that our big men are old, so are our wings.  With Erden and Harangody, we're 3 deep at the 4 and 5.  Right now we just have the aging PP and the frequently injured Marquis Daniels at the 3.  Personally, I'd rather keep Wafer and have another wing (albeit a small one).

This thread has gotten out of hand. If Wafer can hit a 3, he's making the team. If he can't Lasme may. That's it. They'll prob give Von the benefit of the doubt.

Well, as much as i like to say what i think...truth is i don't know what these guys are going to do.....is Wafer able, is harongody going to turn too, can ?Lasme live up to my expectations...who knows...the thing about perk coming back..all i can say is look at everyone before him....no one really does much, or is not themselves for another year.........and perk has a bad habit of forgetting all the Celts taught him over the summer..as in, bring the ball down..ect...at the end of the year he was trying to be a 5 footer instead of a 7 footer......and his dumb techs....please.....perk please......learn not to burn...!

I agree. The odd man out right now seems to be Luke, IMO. He's kinda like Baby with better range, but he just hasn't played with the energy Baby has. In fact, Lasme is just so hungry, and will likely play for someone if he doesn't make the C's. He has a game like Shawn Marion, but I'm not sure how much he'll get to showcase his talent. I'd love to keep him, as we've passed up on guys like Ben Wallace and Bruce Bowen as camp invites before. I'm not sure if Von Wafer is a lock either. It would make sense to keep a guy like Mario West, cause it seems like we have enough scoring off the bench, defensive stopper at his position is good insurance, and the way he plays (much like Lasme), he won't need plays to generate offense for himself--everything will come through hustle.

There's no way Harangody is getting cut.  He's young, he's cheap, and he's the stretch 4 that Doc craves.  Doc has spent the entire off-season / pre-season talking about the need for shooting, and people are convinced that the team is going to cut its best (or only) outside shooting big?

It's not happening.  Luke is already on this team.

Leon Powes stats;

Ht: 6' 8"  Wt: 240  Age: 26
Born: 1/22/1984, Oakland, California
College: California
Drafted: 2006 - Rd 2
(19th overall by the Nuggets)

So, isn't Lasme 6'8" also...? Yesssss he is.
Ht: 6' 8"  Wt: 220  Age: 27
Born: 12/17/1982, Port-Gentil, Gabon
College: Massachusetts
Drafted: 2007 - Rd 2
(16th overall by the Warriors)
looks like 20lbs diff.....so all we need is doc rivers to actually play him with some real players, mix him in with the first team...why not...see how that goes...heck it is only pre season...oh that will mix up the rotations...hahahha, okay, these guys aren't 12 years old anymore you know. The can adjust, they know the game, they know their team..best way to see what you got...besides, they put harangody with the 1st team, they put him with everyone...trying to MAKE him a player...what did BBD do his first year or two...not much. Lasme is way ahead of 1st year players......and who said they don't see him lasting a year...where is he going to go, back to planet Lasme..? "Heyyyy, where did that Lasme guy go, why he was here a minute ago, then WHOOOSH, gone..?"  Lasme biggest obstacle is docs lack of rotation and BBD favoritism, doc even was playing bbd over Powe until the deal got too big too hide..... "Hmmmm, lets see, dunk and rebounds, or blocked shots.......ya, blocked shots be better!" The first unit could use a guy who loves to rebound, instead of Rondo getting them all......!

Lasme is two years older than Powe, doesn't rebound as well, isn't as strong as Powe, and isn't as good at scoring inside.

I fail to see the comparison and I don't see the point of playing him with the starting unit.
okay you fail to see the comparison.....good thing lasme has only played ...what a total of maybe 20 minutes..if you don't see the similiar styles...that is okay with me....how long has he played this year..and playing with guys he barely knows...does that make any difference.......I think he looks very promising, but no one else has to agree....! Besides, we'll see in time.

Maybe he stays, but I'd still like to see the kid hit a jumper. Summer league against guys who won't play in the league is a bit different than preseason. I'd also like to see what happens when he's played a bit tighter--he has the ugliest shot ever, and it has zero arc--it appears to be a very blockable laser. But I'm also not the best judge of talent...

West has shown nothing in game, but he must have been doing something in practice to still be on the roster. Frankly, I'd be shocked if he makes the squad.

At this point, I think Mario West is a known quantity, an athletic wing with good defense and poor offense.  Maybe smarter than Tony Allen, but inferior on both offense and defense.

He's there because the Celtics obviously plan on cutting him at the end of preseason and signing him to play in Maine (where he played last season before a call-up with the Hawks), although he could win the 15th spot by default if Wafer flat out loses it and they think Lasme needs D-League seasoning to get used to perimeter defense if they hope to use him as a combo forward.

I'm not sure if you had access to tonight's game, but Luke has made multiple jumpers.  He's hit both of his three pointers, and has at least one other mid-range jumper in there.

His pick and roll- defense also looked above average for a rookie.
