  • You say when......
How soon they forget.....last year....no rebounders, = no rebounds = no championship...wafer can shoot sometimes...but a rebounder rebounds all the time....Lasme rebounds like LEON POWE...remember what he did to LA....teams hate the rebounder, why...you ever play bball....he gets the rebound, then he scores or you foul him, he keeps the ball alive....a shooter, well he shoots, then he is done....Lasme blocks shots, defends, and reboundind is at BOTH ENDS, shooting, oh, ya, just one end i guess......

Lasme is a much, much worse rebounder than Leon Powe.  In his Boston career, Powe never averaged below 10 rebounds per 36 minutes.  Lasme has averaged about 7.6 rebounds per 36 minutes this preseason, largely in garbage minutes against second- and third-string players. The only big man on our team who rebounded at a poorer rate last year was Rasheed Wallace, who was largely a perimeter player.

Lasme has had more personal fouls than rebounds in three of the five games this far.  I don't see him as the dominant rebounder that you do.

I'm surprised you said that...comparing a guy who has only played garbage time, to leon's career....??? Lasme, has the hops, the aggression, the court sense and moves of Leon.....after some more play in other than GARBAGE time, he will become much better, of course. Especially if he gets to play with the first team a few times. Leoin came on big time after playing a few shifts with rondo and kg...it makes a diff..playing with more solid guys, secure guys, experienced guys. Watching the pre-season games , you'll notice that the second team doesn't pass as much, don't know who likes it where, they NEVER post up any big men, opting to shoot outrside instead......they are, of course trying to make the team or secure their role. Well, I for one, see the Leon in this guy. But i wouldn't compare the new ?Lasme, to the experienced Leon.

Is it possible that these guys (including Mario West) are regretting their decision to attend the C's camp (or in Wafer's case, to sign with the C's)?   They are fighting for the 15th spot on the deepest team in the league.  The 'losers' here may turn out to be the winners.  Their credible performances in an NBA camp could land them a roster spot on a team which might actually provide them with some playing time this year.  In Boston, they are fighting for a final roster spot and a chance to practice with a good team. If the winner of the 15th spot receives any valuable minutes, it's likely a very bad sign for the C's.

I think it's harder to rebound against elite NBA players, rather than against scrubs.  I understand what you're saying about the lack of passing, the inclination to shoot from outside, etc.  None of that, however, has much to do with rebounding.

Well...nothing personal here....I just like him and think he will do for our team what we need....that is all. We'll only know what he will do if he gets the chance.  Pre season is hard to judge someone....they might look good, but as you said...against who....other wanna be's......playing time.... actually, i don't think anyone would look good in that crazy garbage time, it is odd bball, like self-centered pickup....and who knows about the other guys...they might be injured, but once healed could play, like wafer, a shooter has to be almost 100% clean to be a shooter..not that wafer is injured, but just applying what we know from Ray Allen's injuries...and our own playing the game. M West is prob out..i don't care for gody, i think he is or has too many weak points, and not enough stronger ones.

Trust me, I don't blame anybody for liking him.  I love his attitude.

I initially thought Wafer was a little screwed when Delonte was signed but he's getting a chance to showcase that he's in NBA shape and he can hit a 3 point shot.

Some team will take him. He'll be ok.

As much as I prefer Lasme, the questionable health of Delonte and Marquis might force the Celts to sign Wafer. Hopefully, if we do take him one, he gets his Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. together. He desperately needs to gain confidence, learn his role, take his shots and stop making extra passes as the shot clock winds down. In short he needs to be smart and decisive.

LAsme can't make his own offense. He was much better with Delonte in there, because with delonte there was better flow and he was able to find the opening and get the pass inside. A couple times he was open underneath. Nate did not see him and Wafer ran right into him. Lasme was expecting the pass; but Wafer was not giving up the ball - ended up a broken play.

Good thing is we don't have to worry about Wafer/Lasme chemistry, since there is no scenario in which both iwll be making the team.

That became known two years ago in Houston.

Whether he can shoot or stay in shape was never really in doubt. What still is in question is his character, his defense and if he can play within the team.

I just hope we don't have to rely on the 13th/14th guy (with Perk out).

I find the Lasme/Wafer situation fascinating, mostly because the issue will be resolved fairly soon. I won't have to wait until June to find out how it turns out. So I've watched as much of the preseason games as I can to pick up some insight on how the decision will go down. It's not terribly important, but it's interesting.

However, I have to keep reminding myself that I don't get to see the more important stuff that goes on in practice. I figure Doc just uses the games to reaffirm what he feels he's seen in practice. Therefore, I'd be kidding myself to think I'll ever really know why Doc chooses the one guy over the other.

It's looking to me, unfortunately, as if Wafer is going to be the one to stick at the start of the year, in which case, if we're lucky, Lasme will start in Portland.  In such a situation, the Lasme/Wafer debate could actually stretch until Wafer's contract becomes fully guaranteed in, what, December?

Unguaranteed contracts become fully guaranteed on January 10.

That's the latest they can become guaranteed, but some become guaranteed at earlier milestones (i.e., with the beginning of the regular season, etc.)
