Once again we've had a declining number of votes. In a photo finish Phoenix is our CB Draft Champions.

Finals
   Team
(1)   Chicago Bulls         5
(1)   Pheonix Gorrilas   6

Here are the ballots. I'll follow through on my TPs promise to perfect voters later, Civ 5 calls!

Oh and we'll be holding discussion and voting for a couple other categories starting tomorrow. No single deadline, things like team of the future, best offense, best defense, and biggest trade all deserve a more leisurely approach.

Ahhhhhhhh so close!

Congratulations to Start Orien, couldn't lose to a nicer guy. I am sorry its over, glad it happened.

And glad I can stop defending LeBron. Very glad about that. TP boost to Start Orien

I'm now going to my celticsblog buddies list to remove some so called 'buddies'

Now I move Start Orien be banned for having multiple accounts. Arbitrary Moderation activate....form of....BAN HAMMER!

It was as close in the voting as it would've been on the court.

But congrats to StartOrien! If I do say so myself it was no mean feat to run through THE Walker Wiggle, GC, Roy and IP.

And my condolences to IndeedProceed, who's involvement from start to finish was one of the highlights of CB Draft 2010 - both the in the quality and quantity of his responses throughout (via phone no less, more often than not). He certainly gets the spirit award on this one.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Ah crap. I tried to get back in time to vote, but missed out. Sorry IP. Congrats to both teams for making it and to SO for winning.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Thanks for being the first to admit it, Champ. I likewise blew it. But I'm sure our votes would've canceled each other out. (Er, right?)

Congrats to both SO and IP for getting this far.

Frankly, I don't know how they did it. Yes, each has a multi-gigawatt franchise media darling, but that's about it. Maybe I'm feeling a bit curmudgeonly, but I would have thought these teams should have been voted out rounds ago, because they were essentially seven-man rosters.

So, it plans to be a very close and hard fought series. These teams are quite evenly matched.

Ultimately, I have to vote for Phoenix on this. They have the clear advantage at PG and C, and versatility in the wing and forward rotations. Chicago has LeBron, of course, but a stable of talented but young players who still have yet to play at a consistent level. On the Finals stage, energy counts, but focus and execution counts more.

Haha....no, I'm just done defending my team.

I guess it came down to one offensively talented team with 4 flawed defenders against one defensively talented team with 4 flawed scorers. LeBron James was the unstoppable force on the stoppable team, Dwight was the immoveable object on the movable team. Pick your poison I suppose.

Hail and well met, IP. I like your guys, but I don't think they were quite ready yet.

Next season, maybe?

Oh methinks I shall sticky this thread...and whenever Ilyasova or Jennings start to blow up, or Noah starts to score at around a 15ppg clip, it will be revisted.

One cool thing about this exercise is that it released a lot of my LeBron hate. I never liked his Cleveland team, because even when Shaq was on it, I didn't really like anyone there besides Delonte. (and I'm a huge Shaq fan)

But a team of Jennings, Miller, LeBron, Ilyasova and Noah I could get behind. Just good enough to do some real damage...not good enough though so that they won't need LeBron to bail them out of 1 out of every 5 games...add in some players like Jennings, Ilyasova, Asik, Landry and Lawal that you can really see grow over the next few seasons...I could root for this team.

Kinda the same reason I want Carmelo to go to New Jersey. I would like to root for a Melo team with Brook Lopez as the co-star...never like Billups even in Detroit (its one of the irrational things), and always hated Kenyon Martin for being Kenyon Martin...add in JR Smith and an underachieving Nene...fo-gedda bout it.

Also how did Joakim Noah's Plantar Fascitis never once come up? The guy missed 20 games last season and has been resting his leg all summer, couldn't play for France in the FIBA Championship, and he's only 25...its not like its going to get anything but worse.

Also how did Joakim Noah's Plantar Fascitis never once come up?

I was just under the impression you felt good about his recovery and time off?

But most worrisome, plantar fasciitis limited Joakim Noah to 65 games and 54 starts in an otherwise breakout year. He's still in some pain, forwent playing for the French National team this summer, and his backup is third-string Kyrlo Fesenko. Fesenko's got an NBA body and will finish around the basket but has yet to crack the 1,000 minute mark.

Oh methinks I shall sticky this thread...and whenever Ilyasova or Jennings start to blow up, or Noah starts to score at around a 15ppg clip, it will be revisted.

Only if I can do the same for Holiday and Cousins.
