Congrats to SO for his win, and IP for getting to the finals.

I must say I did have a difficult time deciding between the two teams.  I think you both had a very close amount of positives and negatives in your match up.

TP to you both.

Thanks guy, so excited to get the victory. A ton of fun, incredibly well run by Faf and all the other mods. Spirited debates w/o the ruffled feathers we've seen in the past.

Special thanks to my co-finalist IP, a guy nice enough to go out of his way in the first round to PM me and remind me that I was letting the subject get too far away from Dwight Howard. Speaks volumes.

Today, we're all Gorillaz.

Congrats to Start Orien for bringing home the gold and IP for putting together one heck of a run. TP's to both you guys. You should be proud, you both ran excellent campaigns and had good teams.

Congrats to all the GMs for putting together maybe the most even group of teams that the game produced. Easily one of any 10 teams could very well have one this thing and that's speaks volumes for the quality of the GMs participating.

Excellent run game, the playoffs were done exceptionally well. Hats off to Faf and Roy when he was one of the commishes. TPs to them.

Thanks to anyone who put up with my crap.

Also how did Joakim Noah's Plantar Fascitis never once come up? The guy missed 20 games last season and has been resting his leg all summer, couldn't play for France in the FIBA Championship, and he's only 25...its not like its going to get anything but worse.
To be honest, I've been out of the NBA news loop since August with business picking up, heading back to school and personal stuff. Heck, I didn't even know Louis Amundson had signed in an earlier debate.

Congrats, S.O.!  Very nicely done.

I know we still have Team of the Future to finish, and Faf wants to do some "superlatives".  Still, I don't think it's too early to discuss ways to improve the draft.

Voting was way down this year; we only got 8 of the original GMs to vote in the Finals (with Who and I stepping in for absentee owners, and Fafnir voting).  Counting co-GMs, that was about 25% turnout.  How do we do better?

I'd say PM reminders would really help some of the voting.

Maybe also define in the rules that all owners are expected to vote for every round.

I think Making this whole thing start earlier, I think people generally have more free time in the summer, whether some of the people participating are college kids or what.

I think it would be in our best interests to get confirmed emails for everyone, and PM spam lists made up.

I'll say in the semifinals I did PM everyone that ranked the Suns a lot higher than Roy's Kings, and I do believe a lot of those people did end up voting that round, but not on this one w/o the reminder.

Did people like not having votes posted publicly? I know a lot vote counting and pm campaigns were waged because of it last year. Thoughts?

I actually liked them private...it meant a lot of uncertainty, and less manipulations.

I do think that we should continuously post vote counts, so if people see a low total maybe they'll be more likely to vote.

Yea I think the dedicated thread for peoples public vote brought more attention and debate.

I like a hybrid of the public and private voting.

For the original 1 through 15 voting, I would like to keep that private.  At the same time, I'd prefer to see the actual playoff rounds voted on publicly.

I think the voting process was a little hard for some people.  While sending a PM sounds easy enough, I think studies have shown that if people have to take even a small extra step, they become avoidant.  It's just easier going to a public thread, and posting your choice.

Of course, there's good and bad with that.  The good is, GMs know who they should be lobbying, etc., since they have yet to vote.  The bad thing is, it can cause tension and hurt feelings, sidetracking debates.
