  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Finalized Milwaukee Roster

PG: Jason Kidd/ Jarret Jack
SG: Rip Hamilton/ CJ Miles/ Nick Young
SF: Corey Maggette/ Matt Barnes/Keith Bogans
PF: Dirk Nowitzki/Brandon Wright/Shelden Williams
C: Marcin Gortat/Ronny Turiaf/Shelden Williams

I know some people werent thrilled with my Prince for Maggette Trade but I think Maggette is the better rebounder and also can be a true secondary scorer for my team

I really like your team's balance, but I don't see how it is a significant upgrade over the Dallas team that lost to the Spurs in 6 games.

I really liked that Dallas team too though, and was a bit rebuffed when they failed.

EDIT: and I know you talked about this before but I can't find it...and anyways that was before your Maggette trade.

Well heres the thing, those Mav's were the second best team in a top heavy NBA, So i am very flattered by the comparison.  And I would say the area that i differ is playoff experience,  you look at Butler and Haywood being replaced by Hamilton and Gortat both players have significant playoff and championship experience over the last few years, then you look at my bench with Barnes and Miles who started a combined 15 games i think in last years playoffs.

i have decided that i am going to pick some of my favortie teams we have assembled and put them into 2k10 and play and sim some games...the question is who are the best teams? i was planning on doing the top 8 from each conference and sim a playoff.

The playoff teams will be voted on in about a week or so.  At that point, you'll have 8 teams in each conference, if you want to simulate those.

The problem with sims is that they always come up with some truly whacky results that don't mean a whole lot.  Still, they're fun, and don't hurt anything.

i would just be picking some teams to play for fun nothing related to voting
Pick 2 Heat:
Pg: Jennings/Vasquez
Sg: Wade/R. Allen/Rivers
SF: Lebron/M. Williams
PF: Bosh/Humphries
C: B. Lopez/Dalembert/Anthony

They were the 4th best team in a top-heavy NBA, and that's just using wins as the decider....But that aside they were a very good team, and on paper should've gone places.

Can you defend Rip Hamilton as an upgrade over Caron Butler? Hamilton has missed at least 10+ games every season since 06/07, his FG% has dropped each year since 07-08, and he's coming off his worst 3pt shooting year since 04.

And I like Gortat, but I'm not sure I'm buying him as an upgrade over Haywood. Gortat is more polished offensively, Haywood is meaner defensively..plus despite the fact that Gortat has been in 2 deep, deep playoff runs, I don't know if I would say he's "playoff tested" in the way that say Dwight, LeBron, or guys like Tony Allen or Rajon Rondo.

Also, how do you see Maggette as a fit as opposed to Shawn Marion? How would you compare a bench with Roddy Beabois, Jason Terry, Dampier, Barea and Najera vs your bench? Definitely a different mix, but how will they compare in actual output?

Well the masterpiece is done! Your San Antonio Spurs!

PG - Devin Harris/Jose Barea
SG - James Harden/Dahntay Jones/Daequan Cook
SF - Ron Artest/Chris Douglas-Roberts
PF - Chris Bosh/Chuck Hayes/Shelden Williams
 C - Serge Ibaka/Fabricio Oberto/Joe Smith

again, another team i like; however, do you see leadership as an issue? your back court, while explosive, is relatively young and still developing and need to be mentored properly.  In that respect, who is the vocal and on-court leader of this team? We know Artest now has a championship pedigree, but he's never lead a team successfuly.  Chris Bosh will bring it every night, but we've seen that he himself prefers the 2nd (or even 3rd) fiddle role.  Basically do you see Bosh or Artest asserting their leadership on this team?

Neither Bosh or Artest are leaders.  Furthermore, I think Artest will run wild on that team.  No one even comes close to keeping him in check.

I like your team. Bosh/Ibaka as the starters with Hayes/Oberto as the backups is a good mix of athleticism and toughness. People will bag on you for starting Ibaka because he looks skinny enough so that a strong wind will bowl him over, but don't listen. Ibaka is stronger than he looks, and I'm not sure there is a leaper with more potential out there. He'll get a lot of baskets by running the floor and making athletic plays, and he ought to continue to improve as a shotblocker, hopefully joining the league's elite within a year or two.

Harden I like but how much is something I waiver on pretty often. He's definitely not warranted the Brandon Roy comparisons he came out to last season. He does however consistently outscore his man while he's on the floor so that's a plus. Dahntay Jones is one of those guys that I think had one good year and is still coasting from that. He's just not that good, and honestly I'd rather give your FA pickup Bogans burn than Jones.

I also like Devin Harris. The guy had a bad year after an amazing year, and the team he played for wasn't very inspiring. I think for a player who played an important part of a title run in 05/06, then was the starter for most of the season on a 67 win team the year after that, playing hard for a lost season on a team that really didn't want to win games was probably hard last year.

That said, last year kind of precludes you from saying Harris is a leader.

Ron Artest is a headcase who has proven time and time again that he cannot be the primary scoring wing player on a team that makes a deep playoff run. He can help get you to the playoffs, but he can't keep you there. You're going to need Kobe or Stephen Jackson for that, and you don't have either. Behind him is Chris Douglas Roberts, a guy who looked to everyone like he was going to be a bonofide player...but who got traded for a sack-a-potatoes because he was ruining his team's chemistry.

So you got two negative chemistry guys at your SF position, and some questionable leadership to compensate for that. I can buy Chris Bosh as a leader on a playoff team, but I don't know if this team is a playoff team. I like the mix, but I'll need some convincing.

This team lacks top tier talent. Chris Bosh is the only high level player on the team. Serge Ibaka and Devin Harris give the team two more good players with Harden and Artest in supporting roles. Overall, an effective starting lineup which should form the foundation to a 47-51 team but is not good enough to threaten for a title.

The bench, however, is another issue. I think this is one of the weaker second units around and they'll detract a few wins from the initial target zone. So probably closer to 45 wins.

With Ibaka, Bosh and Hayes as a backline and with Artest, Harris, Harden and Dahntay Jones on the perimeter I would expect this team to be a good defensive squad. Barea is a weak defender while the backup wings lack size, defense and rebounding + the non-Chuck Hayes backup bigs are all weak defensively.

Artest doesn't rebound the ball well, neither do any of the backup wings. James Harden is the only plus rebounder on the perimeter so the squad will be heavily reliant on Bosh, Ibaka and Hayes for board work.

--------------------------------------------

If the team can acquire a second top star to go along with Chris Bosh, they could become a title threat. They have a nice foundation and have filled the most important parts to their supporting cast.

i have decided that i am going to pick some of my favortie teams we have assembled and put them into 2k10 and play and sim some games...the question is who are the best teams? i was planning on doing the top 8 from each conference and sim a playoff.
Looking for best teams?  Look here first because I'm the best.

Is it possible to play with modified rosters online?  If so, I'll beat anyone with my team in 2k9 (don't got 2k10).

Of course the guy with Garnett, Billups & Shawn Marion is looking to play 2k9...

At least Ben Wallace can't even make layups in that game.
