The Alternate Universe Sacramento Kings:

C:  Shaq / (Bargnani)
PF:  Boozer / Bargnani
SF:  Lewis / Dudley
SG: Delfino / Crawford
PG: Parker / Jack

or . . .

C: R. Lopez / Bargnani
PF: Boozer / Ilyasova
SF: Lewis / (Ilyasova)
SG: Delfino / Crawford
PG: Parker / Jack

I've been "drafting" the team in the mod forum, and ended up going with the first team, just because it's full of more binkies.  Team #2 is just as competitive, though.

Thoughts on where this team would end up?  I'm guessing Western Conference Finals, where I'd battle it out with Dons.

I like team 2 more because I hate the idea of Bargs playing center next to boozer which he would be doing for the majority of the game seeing as how Shaqs minutes seem to be capping at around 20 per game.

Yeah, team two is a bit better defensively, a bit inferior offensively.  I've got to think that if I was GMing "for real", I'd have gone with Team #2.  Team #1 is just full of guys I like, and CrotoNats alums.

The thing I like about either lineup is that almost all of the players can play two positions.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Orlando Magic:

PG: Ty Lawson, Jason Terry
SG: Joe Johnson, Vince Carter (Carter would also start at SF with Kirilenko coming off the bench)
SF: Andrei Kirilenko
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge, Amir Johnson
C: Andris Biedrins, Cole Aldrich

New arrivals in italics

From past feedback, it looked like going into today I needed to address my point guard situation (Terry not a true point, a distributor needed for short minutes) and my interior defense. I think I made strides with both in adding Ty Lawson in the 6th and Cole Aldrich in the 7th, along with an athletic and rangy rebounder in Amir Johnson as well.

Aldrich, despite being a rookie, looks poised to start his career as a defensive role player blocking shots and grabbing boards while displaying strong defensive fundamentals - exactly what I needed him for. Lawson had the highest pure point rating of any 2009 draftee, and impressed in Denver - and with Terry sharing minutes with him, he won't have to carry the full load, a position that he's excelled in through his rookie season in Denver.

Amir Johnson is a bonus pick, he can block shots and rebound and defend out to the perimeter - though his lack of strength made the Aldrich pick more important.

There's still work to be done, and though the talent is there, the fit is still a concern, so I'm open to trades. Faithful brethren, inform me of your hallowed opinions and keep me from wasting a draft pick on Joe Alexander again with your wisdom.

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

First off, doubtful that there's a better defensive front court tandem league-wide than Horford and Wallace. And I've paired two 10 rpg forwards with the best rebounder in college basketball.

I would agree that the Magic did very well by themselves in today's two rounds. Johnson is also a highly efficient scorer in short stints, who sets hard picks and rolls to the basket as well as any young forward. Pairing him with Aldrich should pay dividends.

I'm less confident about the defense in the starting line-up, though the Magic are anyway long and mobile, practically elastic, in the frontcourt. The team will rely heavily on Kirilenko's help defense, more so than his weak-side shot blocking.

TP for the analysis. I see a lot of 3-guard lineups in the future thanks to the size of Johnson/Carter, with Kirilenko and Aldridge (or Kirilenko and Biedrins/Aldrich) taking the two forward spots.

I've got a lot of players, guys. Like, real large amount.

C: Dwight Howard/ Greg Monroe
PF: Antawn Jamison
SF: John Salmons/Hedo Turkoglu/Travis Outlaw
SG: Wesley Matthews/Rudy Fernandez
PG: Baron Davis

Probably see some of Hedo & Monroe at the 4. For what it's worth, I think those are 9 players with NBA-talent.

I like it. I might start Terry ahead of Lawson, only because I am not 100% about Lawson's abilities vs. starting-caliber defenses. And that's not a knock on Lawson's abilities, it's just based on a lack of measurable data.

Your center platoon seems a little stiff, robotic. You might even put LMA at the 5 at times, allowing Kirilenko and Carter to play the forward slots? I think the jury is still out on Amir too, but if he's only asked to be the backup PF, he should be OK.

Not a lot I can say, other than it's shaping up to be a very good squad.

I think you could use more of a mobile, traditional SF.  Thad Young has had some issues at the position, and is more of a hybrid 3/4.
