I am pretty pumped about getting Rip Hamilton at this spot.
He had an off shooting year last year but is upgrade defensively from Ray Allen and i was also able to pick up another early 7th rounder. But even in his off shooting year he averaged 18 points and 4 assists per game
I'm surprised to hear this from a Celtics fan, I guess. Ray's regular season defense was mediocre, as the whole team took it easy. However, in the playoffs his defense was top-notch, especially against Kobe.
Dont get me wrong im as big a ray fan as anybody im just not sure the gap between he and rip is that big. And with the way that talent is dropping i saw it as absolutely crucial to try to get another pick
Yeah, I'm definitely a big fan of depth, as shown by last year. However, I think you went from being right there with the other contenders in the East to being a step behind them. I think the difference between Ray and Rip is significant. (Also, if Ray was still generally perceived as being near Ray's level, he wouldn't have fallen to the fifth round, right?)
I dunno, im not sure about that. But i guess we will have to wait for the voting. I doubt Ray would have fallen to the 5th, but thats cause he is a celt (IMO). And I really just think that at this point Rip was a better fit for my team because he can play defense all year long, and he is also a couple of inches taller than RAy which i like, and is Younger.
Yeah, but you also now have 40% of the starting lineup that won 27 games last year.
I don't know, I think Rip has lost a step, and despite their age, I think the gap between Ray and Rip is as big as its ever been right now. I'd rather see 16 points per game as a third option as opposed to 18 points as a first option.
Anyway, we can agree to disagree; I don't want to campaign against your team, as it's still a pretty good one. (Just not as good as it was.
)
This is true Roy but i doubt anybody would tell you that the reason they werent a playoff team last year were because of Prince and Hamilton. I think it has more to do with the fact that they have a no name as their starting pf, a corpse as their starting center and Stucky Died on the court part way through the season
