With the 17th pick the Gorillaz select Mo Williams
Mo Williams is a very good backup point guard. He did an excellent job as a sixth man in Milwaukee when he was playing behind TJ Ford.

Another explosive scorer to play with Dwight Howard.

Anytime you can add a guy who can rock the all white like that, you gotta do it.

Ya, is there a controversial subject we could bring up to divide the teams in the draft? Been to pleasant of a first week in my opinion.

How about this - while I'm a big fan of Mbah a Moute, Brewer, and Ibaka, I felt all three were drafted too early given their offensive limitations. Case in point, Ibaka is the best free throw shooter of the three at 70%. While Brewer is the only one to post a - barely - positive AST:TO ratio.

His reaction to being picked in the CB draft

"I can't believe this is really real. This is surreal. So many emotions on one man decision. I wonder what is our next move. 1:38 a.m."

I think you are all underestimating Ibaka.  He came on at the end of last year. Is going to be the starting Center on OKC this year.  Is very active rebounding and blocking shots which is exactly what I am looking for. Over the last month of the season he averaged almost 2 blocks and 7 rebounds a game.  will be a very nice complement to Chris Bosh

Mo Williams is just as limited defensively though. Fit matters a lot at this point.

Utah has 4 players who can all shoot and are excelent offensive players, so grabbing a defensively versatile and limited (but low usage also) Mbah a Moute makes sense. Especially when he's unlikely to fall a full 30 slots till Utah's next pick.

AST:TO ratio isn't really all that useful when you're talking about a list of players who are never asked to create for their team mates.

Yeah but it's a great way to rip on a former 6 year veteran Celtic guard.

I think Ibaka needs to make major strides to be able to stay on the court for a consistent 20-25 minutes a game without picking up cheap fouls.

He's also extremely limited offensively. Defenses will double Bosh, and force Harris and Artest (!) to beat them.

If you're dealing with a player who isn't asked to create for his team I think you should look at TOV%. How often he turns it over is more important than his assist ratio. Usually a poor AST/TO ratio also means a really bad TOV%, but not always. (think Rasheed Wallace his AST/TO wasn't all that good, but he almost never turned the ball over so it wasn't a big deal)

A high AST/TO ratio is a good thing in any player, but its way down the list for someone who doesn't handle the ball at all. (which all the players listed fall into)

In terms of potential, Ibaka should have been gone higher.

In a few years, he should be one of the top rebounders + top shot blockers + top overall defensive players at the power forward position.

Surprising offensive game as well. Nice short jump shot and a very good finisher around the rim.

I think Ibaka is hurt by the other big men with excellent potential who came before him.

(Amir Johnson for example)
