no comments on the pietrus pick... i really like him a lot and think him and kobe make a fantastic 2/3 duo.  is ariza really much better than him?

I think Pietrus tends to wander mentally in and out of games, lacks focus. When he is on, he's very good.

I'm about to grab a lunch, so I am afraid I'll be unable to overwhelm someone with an offer for an upcoming pick. Nevertheless, I'll check PMs when I get back.

With the 24th pick of round 5 the Golden State Warriors select Nicolas Batum

Great pick. One of the best young defensive SFs. Made real strides last season as a scorer. Finished out the year really well.

And I agree with Lucky, better both short and long term than either the Prince or Pietrus.
It's great when the guy you've been waiting on is available by the time your next pick rolls around. Sort of like winning a raffle.

46 picks (since my last selection) ... waiting and hoping Batum wouldn't be selected.

Very surprised he lasted this long. I thought he would have been picked around the same time as Ariza (sixth pick in fourth round).

Rrobably will get skipped on 5.28 due to going to play hoops right now.  i'll make it after.

Value at the end of the 5th is at an all time low. GMs leaving their picks past due left and right.

Meanwhile I'm still looking to move up. If you're not already headed to the Vineyard get in touch.

True confession. I also prefer Batum to Ariza, who's value is - I suspect - at an all time high following his showcase role on an injury plagued Rockets team.

Draft Grade: A+ "Would pick here again."

I don't think Utah will have a problem offensively with Mbah a Moute at the 3. Meanwhile his rebounding is stronger relatively there and his defense is still very good.

Actually, looks as if his rebounding is worse? 11.1 reb/per48 at the PF versus 7.8 reb/per48 at the SF.

Also a PER of 15.1 at the 4 versus 9.8 at the 3.

Rebounding is always relative to your position. You expect a C to get more than a PF, a PF more than a SF, a SF more than a SG, and a SG more than a PG.

His rebounding as a SF is good, as a PF its deficient.

I love the Batum pick, he was one of three defensive wings that I really liked left at the begining of this round.

Martin is a nice value pick here.

I think the draft board is wrong; Sacramento should have the next pick.

Hat tip for the pic - a nice attempt at drumming up support around here for an unpopular player.

Martin represents great value late in the 5th.

As I said I was missing several trades, I'll have to go through the thread over the weekend when I have time to figure out which I missed in IPs thread.

I like the Martin and Jefferson picks.

J.R Smith I'm not as sold on, can he recover his 6th man form from a few years ago?

Haha, thanks! I like him, he's chippy. You could argue a little too much but I need an enforcer, between him and Oden I like my paint support.
