I think we're on a collision course with Shaq

Atlanta just resigned Jason Collins, so that makes them all full at the center position.  And that seemed to be the only other team, besides the Celtics trying to get Shaq on the squad.  Not sure what kind of money or years it would take, but its looking like as his options narrow down the Celtics become a greater possibility. I still hope Rudy Fernandez happens to though, since the East is becoming something of an "arms race".

Well, Collins is hardly a stud, so I wouldn't rule the Hawks out yet because Collins is "blocking" Shaq from joining. 

Still, if Danny doesn't plan on upgrading the 2/3 anymore, Shaq is looking more and more like a good idea.  Simply put, we need enough firepower on the bench so that Doc can rest Paul and Ray for more than 10 mpg each (ideally something closer to 15+ mpg).  I don't see Wafer/Daniels/Bradley doing that for us. 

However, if you bring Shaq into the equation, it changes things.  Throw him in the post and all of the sudden Von Wafer doesn't need to create his own shot, because he'll be getting better looks with Shaq in the post.

So it is possible we could get Rudy for a pick (and filler contracts like Gaffney and Lafayette) and Shaq for Wallace.

yeh thats why i always said i wanted shaq, hes the only one out in FA center that can defend against howard and dominate the 5s in MIA, and if we were to face LA, Bynum and Gasol will be weak in the paint...

that also opens up shooters for us, and i trust shaq to get our offensive boards

I agree.  Our locker room is very strong.  While there could be some silliness during the regular season, I think everything will be fine.  

As for Shaq, another pet peeve of mine that Chris Gaspar whined about the other day is that Shaq is some how going to slow down our dynamic fastbreak.  While he may have done that in Phoenix (though I'm not sold on it), we're not the Suns.  We don't run and gun.  More often than not even last year our fastbreak consisted of Rondo getting a steal and going coast to coast.  

And it's certainly not like Kendrick was running the floor with Rondo for high-flying alley-oops.

Exactly.  I had to stomach Mikki Moore, then Rasheed, now Jermaine Oneal- all of my most despised players become Celtics lately.  I still want Shaq though, even though I do feel that the more idiots around him, the bigger locker room risk he would be.
