Here are the latest with Boston and New York.

Cho has backed off to say he is not in any hurry to trade Rudy. Basically Cho is waiting to see if Boston or NY Knicks will change their offers.

Boston
Boston isn't sure they are willing to give up two 1st round picks as they are countering with a 1st & 2nd round picks. Basically Boston is getting two good role players in Rudy Fernandez and Joel Przybilla.

The problem for Boston is they haven't found any better free agents or better players from other teams willing to take back Rasheed Wallace contract for an exception. With Kendrick Perkins out 6-7 months with a torn ACL, the Celtics need a center and Joel would fix that problem.

Here is the "rumored" offer by Portland:

$8.65M - Rudy Fernandez, Joel Przybilla and Portland 2011 2nd to Boston
$7.08M - Rasheed Wallace, Tony Gaffney, 2011 & 2013 1st round picks (both picks lottery protected over several years) to Portland

New York
Right now the offer is less thrilling as NY offers a 1st round pick in 2014 and Toney Douglas. Portland wants Anthony Randolph and New York is thinking about it, but hasn't approved any deals yet.

FWIW, Portland forum says this guy is very credible. If Ainge gives up 2 1st round picks then you can bet that he gets Oden instead of Przybilla. My two cents. Portland is obviously trying to collect 1st round picks to go hard after Chris Paul.

I'm on board with parting with 2 lottery protected first round picks. Rudy, Joel and a title are worth it.

After all the C's can always buy a pick somewhere when Ray, KG retire.

EDIT: I just read that Joel might not be recovered by camp from a serious injury.... that's no good. 1 first is all they get then.

I would do that deal in a heart beat. Sign off on it Celtics. That would be fine. Lottery protected. plus we are getting a second round pick which we all know what danny can do with that. The only reason I could see Danny not doing this is because he wants those picks to trade somewhere else down the line but with Prizbillas contract expiring that is a huge asset

I didnt see the Oden part would be great if we could get him too! Instead of joel that is.

It depends on WHEN JP is scheduled to come back.  If he's out as long as Perk, then that's not particularly helpful to the C's.  If it's only a matter of a few weeks into the season, then yeah definitely go for that deal.

Basically I think BOS has the edge over NYK in this situation.

Has anyone been able to find something on where Pryzbilla is in his rehab?

I think just the fact that he is coming back from a ruptured Patella should drive his price down and make that package only worth a 1st and maybe a 2nd.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I really like the foundation of this trade, but I agree that it makes it tough to accept if JP is not ready by camp. I still might do it just for the expiring contract though.

Concerning the 2 picks, I think people are overrating the value of a 1st round pick and the difficulty to buy into the 1st round. I would give up the 1st rounders but I would try to get Portland to add a prospect to the trade, preferably Cunningham.

This is old, from just after he reinjured his patella (back in early March).  It says that after he misses 41 games (and the ones missed from last year count too), his salary is paid by insurance.

I haven't seen recent articles on his recovery, but it seems doubtful he'd be ready for the start of the season.  FWIW, here it is:  http://www.blazersedge.com/2010/3/8/1362664/joel-przybilla-the-day-after

We need to go all in to win it...now. Here are my moves if I'm Danny.

1. Offer Portland Gaffney, Lafayette and the two first round picks for Fernandez and a second round pick. That's a good deal for Portland and for us. If Portland doesn't doesn't take it, sign Delonte asap and be done with it. Don't give up Bradley in this deal.

2. Trade Rasheed's contract, along with Big Baby to new Orleans for Imeka Okafor ( works salary wise ). Perkins, KG and Imeka Okafor on the glass and defensively? Sick.

3. Try to sign one more small forward behind Pierce ( Joey Graham, Jarvis Hayes or Ime Udoka )

4. Try to get Nesterovic or Brezec as your 3rd string center if you don't want Shaq or you don't like Erden.

Okafor's contract is long but you could do worse than Okafor, Perkins, Rudy and Rondo moving forward from the Boston 3 party. The next two years we'd have by far the best interior defense and rebounding in the league...that wins championships.

Okafor / Perkins / Shaq, Nesterovic, Brezec or Erden
KG / O'Neal / (Okafor / Harangody)
Pierce / Daniels / Graham or Hayes
Ray / Rudy or Delonte / Matt Janning ( like this kid )
Rondo / Nate / Bradley

Have a full team going into training camp for once in the Boston 3 party era.

1. We lose Baby but Okafor is a major improvement on the boards and defensively at the center and PF spots.

2. Okafor's contract is big but he's not a bad piece moving forward with Perkins, Rondo and Rudy. Perk and Okafor would be nasty defensively and on the glass. Okafor's contract would expire with Pierce's...

3. Let Portland use Pryzbilla's expiring contract in their own trade deadline move. We already have Perk down, we don't need another big man with one knee.

4. Portland has a discontented player in Rudy who they will lose in another year if they don't get something for him. If the two draft picks are lottery protected, I could care less about them and Danny does well with second rounders anyway.

5. New Orleans would love to clear that contract of Okafor's.

6. The defense of KG, Perkins and Okafor as your main rotation up front? That is tough, tough. And Okafor gives us a big shot in the arm on the glass.

to quote a couple of quotes from your article:

"A doctor I spoke to today speculated that Joel would be out for all of the 2010-11 season, which is the final year of his contract, assuming he picks up his player option this summer"

"Although McMillan and other Trail Blazers officials didn't want to speculate on when Przybilla might be able to return, the injury could be career threatening for Przybilla, 30, who has one more season left on his contract at $7.4 million. "

not good things.

One more thing about Okafor. He strikes me as a player who hasn't yet found the right home. The team he'll excel with.

I think in Boston, with KG and Perk in his ear might be the place.

He might find his home here.

I still do the trade if it's only 1 first (not to say that your post was contrary to this). We would be giving up a first and non guaranteed contracts for a good young player and an expiring contract who could retire.

Check please.  We don't need another C with a terrible knee injury that will keep him out at least the majority of the season.

I like the kid tho.  Whatever happens he will undergo a physical and if he's not right the trade wouldn't happen (assuming it goes that far).  He would of been a bonus though, I still really want Rudy if there's a way for that to happen.

Can't give up two 1sts.  One of them will be a post big three pick.

Not for a guy demanding to be traded or he will go back to Spain and a one year rental on an injured C.

People have lost their minds with this Rudy Fernandez stuff. Portland is asking too much for a non-rotation player. Here are guys traded for 2 1st round picks, KG, Lebron, Pau, Boozer, Bosh, Kidd........  Celtics could use his service but its not dire. More dire needs are backup SF, And backup Center. And who knows whats up with Joel Przybilla? For all we know, his career could be over after two consecutive knee surgeries.

How is Rudy not a rotation player?

When were LeBron and Bosh ever traded?  None of those other guys were just traded for draft picks.
