i don't like przybilla for a giving up a 2nd 1st round pick especially in 2013, as we look to get under the cap that year i think

would rather

wallace
gaffney
layafette
2011 1st rounder

for

rudy
shaq (s&t) (3-4 mill)
& trade expection (3-4 mill)

i'll give a 2011 1st rounder in next year's draft as it will suck cause of the projected holdout

I'm guessing Portland would also be concerned that 2011 pick would suck cuz of a holdout.

I can't see Portland wasting part of their MLE for a sign and trade.

sorry

sheed and gaf&lay would go to cleveland + probably a c's 2nd round pick + cash

shaq (5 mil) + rudy +trade excepion of 1.8 mill to us

2011 c's 1st rnd to portland + trade expection of rudy salary

shaq would have to get at least $5 mill to made the trade work

marginally better than the pryzi + rudy trade for 2 number one's

lets start with some updates

According to reports, the Blazers are willing to accommodate Fernandez'trade request and are looking for a first-round draft pick in return. Arlington Heights Daily Herald

The Knicks' quest for Portland's Rudy Fernandez, however, remains on hold through the weekend. Their inability to send the Blazers a first-round pick until 2014 is a likely sticking point. Bergen Record

So after reading between the lines-

It looks like we are still the front runner.

I love the idea of pryzbo and rudy!

If it takes two first rounders I say do it.  They are both more valuable than what we can get out of the draft with a 22-30 type pick.

Do it Danny!

Thanks for the update.  I still think two first rounders is too much especially considering how well DA can draft, but a first and a second is reasonable.

We should not overlook the fact that Cho is a rookie GM.  Hopefully, he'll drag this out too long and then crumble under Danny's icy glare!

Don't count on Cho messing up. He was one of Sam Presti's generals. His moves will be methodical and calculated. I no longer think we are the front runner. I think NY might truly be considering trading Randolph straight up. Rudy is a great fit for that system with his shooting and athleticism. Gallinari and Fernandez would really space the floor. If the Blazers were willing to settle for Wilson Chandler I think this deal gets done though.

If it's Randolph:

1)Felton 2)Fernandez 3)Chandler 4)Gallinari 5)Amare

If it's Chandler:

1)Felton 2)Fernandez 3)Gallinari 4)Randolph 5)Amare

Both are good lineups for the D'antoni play no defense and try to outscore you offense.

I think the fact that we have already said we will do One fiirst round pick and offer them immediate cap relief with Sheed shows Portland is holding out for more talent from NY before they consent to doing a trade with us.

I think you are right that the Blazers are holding out for Randolph but Donny Walsh has coveted Randolph ever since he was drafted and now that he got him I don't think he's moving him.  Hopefully the Blazers prefer cap relief (Sheed) and a number one pick from the Cs over Chandler from NYK.

If they are looking for first rounders, could we just offer our two non-guaranteed contract guys, Layfeyette and Gaffney and then two first rounders, or a combo of a first and second rounder.

They get their draft picks and then cut the two contracts saving them a little money.

Just a shot in the dark thought...don't hate me for being dumb if it is the case lol...your mind starts to wander aimlessly when you finish projects weeks ahead of time at work and they have nothing for the intern to do next

That is really the ideal.  Pryzbilla is a question mark like Perk.  So unless Portland is insisting we take him as part of the deal, I'd rather just give them a first and the two non-guaranteed deals.

That way we can keep Wallace's deal to net a big man or as part of a larger package later on.

As far as signing Von Wafer signaling anything, is he even on a guaranteed contract? I would think with a fringe player like him who has a recent injury history, this would have to be a 'make good' deal.

The injury history is a legitimate concern, but I think people have got the wrong idea about the quality of player Ainge has picked up here.

The 2008-2009 Rockets won 53 games, made it to the conference semi-finals and had Ron Artest, Brent Barry, Shane Battier and Tracy McGrady on the roster.  On that team, Wafer played 63 games, started 11, averaged 19.4 minutes, 9.7 points, 39% from 3pt.  In the playoffs, Wafer averaged 13.9 minutes, 8.2 points and 40% from 3pt.

If he's healthy and his head's on straight, Wafer is not some bench scrub like Michael Finley.

We should not forget about the agent's influence here.

Rudy wants out of PDX because he isn't starting and probably because it is a small market on the west coast.  Since he's from Spain you got to think he would prefer the east coast, and a big market where he can play big minutes, preferably starting.  Remember, Rudy is on a rookie contract and wants to cash in when he becomes a free agent after the 2012 season.

If I'm his agent, I'm putting big time pressure to send Rudy to New York.

East coast?  Check.
Opportunity to start?  Check.
Big market?  The biggest.
D'Antoni's system.  A huge plus for him.  It will inflate his stats.

Unfortunately, Boston doesn't have the same opportunities to offer him.  Why would he want to come off the bench behind Ray, when he is unhappy coming off the bench behind Roy?

Stats aren't the only thing that gets you paid. Playing an important role for a playoff team can also get you a large contract. See James Posey.

Is this 3-team trade feasible?

Celtics
give up: Sheed's contract, 1st rd pick, 2nd rd pick
receive: Shaq, Rudy

Blazers
give up: Rudy
receive: 1st rd pick, 2nd rd pick

Cavs
give up: no one. S+T with Shaq for around $6mil
receive: Sheed's contract

It isn't a messy trade and everybody "wins". C's get their shooter and big man. Blazers get their draft picks in what pretty much amounts to a salary dump. The sticking point is the Cavs. While i dont know why the Cavs would want to get Sheed's retiring contract when they have tons of cap space already, stranger things have happened? or maybe the Celtics can trade away another 2nd rounder or cash considerations to Cleveland for their trouble. Teams have done that before.
