League sources said yesterday that the Celts have expressed trade interest in guards Leandro Barbosa of Phoenix and Rudy Fernandez of Portland.

The Celtics probably are using Rasheed Wallace’s contract in their attempt to acquire Barbosa, who averaged 9.5 points in 17.9 minutes for the Suns this season.

I like the Rudy idea. And you can’t trash on a young players defense when he plays in the western conference for a team that isn’t defense-oriented. I think Rudy could be a good defender.

He can already shoot the three, run the break, and finish at the rim... If you have Rudy here you won’t be seeing blown 2 on 1’s like we say in the playoffs with Ray.

I really like Barbosa, he would be great in the backcourt running with Rondo on the fastbreak! He can shoot the 3 and go into the paint, and he is still young.

A few years ago Barbosa would have excited me.  Now, not so much.  I don't think he is anywhere near as good as Nate, and I assumed Bradley was going to get minutes in that role.  I really don't like Barbosa's game very much, especially for that salary.
Fernandez had a bad year last year, but his salary is more reasonable and I think he could contribute.  He is worth a shot.
