I would guess these are backup plans if the Cs fail to re-sign Ray Allen.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Fernandez is homesick and Beasley is nuts...  I guess Barbosa wouldn't be that bad afterall.  :)

Fernadez would be the more ideal player for Rondo going forward due him being a better shooter.  He would be a nice piece although I have to believe everyone knows Rasheed is just going to retire so Portland would have to be doing it as a reason to save money.

That's more likely. They'd replace some of what Ray brings.
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

I know its a pipe dream, but what if we traded Sheed's expiring, our 2 D-Leaguers for Rudy and either LaMarcus Aldridge or Greg Oden or Joel Pryzbilla?

Then it would be considered a dream...

There is absolutely no way that would happen.

Portland might do Rudy + Pryzbilla for Sheed's contract.  I would rather have Aldridge, but I don't Portland will trade him or Oden.

I would hold out for Roy in that deal. :)

If that possible, Oden would be a perfect addition as he can learn from Kelvin Garnett!!  But he is injury-prone.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Yes, to Fernandez no to Barbosa. Fernandez would thrive alongside Rondo and could maybe become a starter for the future. Barbosa isn't any better than nate.

Either of these guys would help out. Hopefully they are an effort to upgrade our bench. Maybe TA and Nate Robinson are history? Rudy can play either wing and Barbosa is a decent combo guard.

This also makes me wonder if Danny has a deal in place to sign and trade Ray Allen for a big? I would think he is going to pursue a Center unless he has a deal already with the midlevel with someone. Mysterious approach until it all unfolds for me.

It just feels a little like 'cart before the horse'.

If we are looking at Rudy, how do we trade for him?  If we trade Sheed's contract then we need to get back more in salary.  Could we also be targeting Camby or Pryzbilla with Fernandez?

Rudy would be a great piece to have for after Ray, whether that's this year or a few years from now.  He can play the two or three and would probably be better next to Rondo than he was in Portland.

I would only want Barbosa as a backup combo guard.  He could be good if we lose Tony and Nate.  If we lose Ray too and Barbosa is the starter then the C's defense takes a big hit.  I wouldn't want to see Nate and Barbosa together, but would be happy to see Tony and Barbosa as our backups.

What could we offer besides cap relief though?  Portland spends like crazy so doesn't seem to mind spending on good players.  Maybe Bradley is part of the trade?  And/or Big Game Baby?

Phoenix is nowhere near the cap if they lose Amare, so I don't see their motivation.  If they're dumping him just because they feel he's overpaid, would we want him?

I would absolutely love landing Fernandez and Camby or Pryzbilla.  Camby and Pryzbilla would both be fine to me, because what Pryzbilla makes up in being younger he is more injury prone than Camby.
