2-0 Slovakia.

Italy is done.

I may have jumped the gun.   Italy is looking real aggressive right now.

This is a really embarrassing Italian team. You would expect from 4 time champions to do much bettr is such relatively easy group.
The Immortals:

Iker Casillas, Giacinto Facchetti, Alessandro Nesta, Matthias Sammer, Javier Zanetti, Lothar Matthäus (c), Xavi, Zico, Maradona, Roberto Baggio, Ferenc Puskas, Karl Heinz Rummenigge

Coach:Rinus Michels

Strange finish to the game. Good result for Slovakia.

That Italian acted like he got shot in the head.

I hate the embellishment in this sport.  The acting that goes on is pathetic.

Which is why I am happy to see the Italians gone. They (sometimes) play beautiful soccer but almost always flop and act like someone almost killed them when there is a foul. They are really giving soccer a bad name. Ciao, Italia!

who was that Italian player who needlessly ran into the goal, knocked over the goalie, talked a bunch of trash, got pushed away and then faked an injury for a minute and a half.....his team gets within one goal of a tie and he single-handedly wastes 5 minutes....

That was lousy goalkeeping on that second Italian goal.

It was a beautiful chip but the keeper should have saved it.

It´s too bad that the NZ team didn´t advance, but their perormance at this WC was nevertheless impressive.

England - Germany will be great. The english team seems to have found their rythm, and is due for a break-out game, while I was cringing several times at the german team during the last two games, who really showed their inexperience on several occasions. However, it´s the knock-out stage, and the players` form on the day will be a decisive factor.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

That was so weird.

You're still down 2-1.  Shut the heck up.

Denmark down 0-2 at the half vs. Japan. Two(!) free kick goals, one from Honda and one from Endo. Thomas Sørensen did not look impressive on either. We now need to score 3 goals in the second half to advance. Ugh. Looks like a very disappointing summer sportswise for me  :'(

Morten Olsen needs to stand back as head coach of the Danish team and several of our players should not be picked for the team again. They are simply too old. We need fresh legs. And with that, I will probably not watch a game until the final. *big sigh*

Sorensen should have done better at least on the first one.

Where was Rommedahl after looking so brilliant against Cameroon?

I couldn't believe it when Tomasson stepped up to take that penalty.

Very disappointing.  I was definitely expecting more out of the Danes.

Oh well, I guess, there's still the US team for me.
