Well, I hope KG doesn't get suspended, but if he does I still like our chances in game 2.

If he sits, we win - as long as we put forth the same effort and intensity as we did last night. That defensive effort was reminiscent of 2007-2008.

Best defense I've seen from this group this year - period. Simply outstanding.

As for the elbow, I agree with Hobbs: No suspension is appropriate.

Should Stern and Stu Jackson behave like the children they are, then the instigator darn well better be suspended as well. Nothing happens if Richardson and Haslem are controlled by Joe DeRosa, which they were not. The officials are culpable in this incident.

All I have to say is if he gets suspended and we still win game 2 we will be putting the Miami Heat on notice and when Kevin comes back in game 3 he will just be that much more p***ed off (I can still remember scenes from last season's Bulls series of Kevin serenading Ben Gordon with profanities while he walked by our bench).

Also, I think that incident was blown out of proportion; Kevin was provoked from behind and he did what he thought was necessary to separate himself from an unseen conflict in the 'Heat' of the moment. It's not like he pulled a Ron Artest and went into the stands to punch someone, and besides all that he had a good game last night so we would definitely be missing his presence if he wasn't good to go on Tuesday night.

I understand that people want to defend KG, but he was NOT breaking free from someone's hold (as many have suggested) when he threw that elbow. He simply threw that elbow. He'll get suspended for a game. And he should. I also don't think it will affect much of anything in the grand scheme of things.

You made a good point about KG being fired up in your first statement.

If we do lose KG in game two, he will most certainly come back in game 3 with a vengeance.

KG went off in MIA earlier this year..the man couldn't miss in that game. I think he was like 11 for 11 or something. He was healthy then. And he's healthy now.

Totally disagree.

Garnett was breaking away from Miami players he could not see. Period.

I can't wait till we get to Miami, don't forget, we have a hell of a road record. Now we're going to be so fired up that we will stick it to the heat on their home floor.

If the league wants to nitpick about the whole KG incident, they should nitpick about everything.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but going strictly by the rule book, shouldn't every Miami bench player who stepped over the line on to the court (including Carlos Arroyo) be suspended for next game?

At this point, I think KG will be suspended because of all the media hoopla over this. Which is why I think Boston fans should email every media person asking about the Haslem elbow.

Here's a cap of that elbow:

Pretty clear to me. No one is talking about it because it is not KG.

It's hard to say.  The rule states:

Quote
During an altercation, all players not participating in the game must remain in the immediate vicinity of their bench. Violators will be suspended, without pay, for a minimum of one game and fined up to $35,000

It depends upon what "the immediate vicinity of [the] bench" means.

You need to watch the video again.  Let's call a spade a spade.  It was a cheap shot by Garnett.  Nobody was holding his arm at the time.

KG will be suspended a game, IMO.

Also, if he does get suspended, I dont understand why everyone likes our chances.  Chances are we will lose that game.

Let me just add (and forgive if it's been mentioned already) that, isn't it basketball etiquette that when a player on the opposing team is in the floor with an (apparent) injury, that your team clears out and gives space (for trainers and medical people, etc.)?  I don't see how this happening near the Miami bench makes that any less the unwritten rule-when a player is down, stay away, period.

I don't get why Miami players were even around (that were in the game, like Q and JO), or why the bench players and coaches for Miami didn't clear out toward the corner to give space.  Eddie Lacerte had to weave through Miami players to get to Paul.

If there is any lesson from this, it is how quickly the officials can lose control of a playoff game, and, if suspensions flow, how the officials' failure in those situations can potentially decide championships.

Yeah, that was totally classless by Q-Rich.  The guy is a punk.  The "melee" can absolutely be attributed to the refs not exercising control on the situation.
